Out of Town Guests Gifts

Rachael, on June 11, 2020 at 3:56 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

Hi! September bride here (09/26). We are planning to have a few gifts in a bag for our out of town guests. We plan to have these either when they check-in with the reception desk or already have them in their rooms. How many bags are usual to have per family? If there is a couple should we still only give them one bag? What if they have two older kids? 2 bags? I am unsure about how many bags to plan for when we have 56 individuals and approximately 36 rooms. Thanks, everyone!!!

I think it would be ok to do one per family. like let's say you were including small bags of individual candy - i think if the family had 4 people for instance, then you can put 4 bags of the individual candy in.

One bag per room is customary. Also, many hotels won't let you do multiple bag types (like one type for couples, one for families, one for singles) because it's too much work for hotel staff. The bags are just a small token of appreciation for traveling. The guests can divy up the contents however they wish among themselves.

Love this idea! Our friend did this when we went to their wedding last year! She just did one bag per room, and as a couple that was more than enough. She has a “hang over kit” a drink, protein bars, and candy in it and we just split it up between us. I don’t think you need to spent a ton of money doing a bag per person they will love it even if they have to split it among people!

We did one welcome bag per hotel room. Each bag had an assortment of snacks and goodies, so if it was one person in the room, they got it all to themselves, and with multiple people in the same room, they simply shared.

Our hotel said they’ll hand out bags upon check in, but their couldn’t be any customization they all have to be the same. I think it’s usually one per room. We live in and are getting married in CT, but a lot of our guests are from NY. I’m planning on putting a couple CT made products (PEZ candy, A Hosmer soda, Deep River chips) along with some bottle water and some miscellaneous snacks maybe an individually wrapped tyenol.

I'd do one bag/room, but check ahead to see if they'll let you. Some hotels have stopped this because of COVID.

We are doing this, too, and since it is primarily food items (snacks, waters, etc), we are doing one bag per guest. It didn't seem fair to make a whole family share an entire bag and I don't want the hassle of customizing different sized bags per room.

Most of the hotels in our city said the same thing when we were looking around for hotel blocks. No customization of which room gets which bag, or number of bags per room, unless we wanted to pay a fee of $5 per bag for them to hand them out upon check in. One bag per room, all same bag was an easy decision for us to make

I'm also putting together hotel welcome bags. We're doing one bag per room, but in each bag, we are including 2 each of everything edible: water bottles, snacks, candy, etc., though only one of each item per bag for non food items (playing cards, area maps, welcome letter, etc.).
