So my wedding will be in Texas but my family is in Wisconsin. Can yall give me advice on how i should go about having a bridal shower / party and doing the fitting for dresses and suits for our wedding party?

A shower is hosted for you by family or friends - you don't throw one for yourself. In that case, it makes sense to discuss with whomever is hosting what logistically makes sense. I would be very flexible about what you expect from people - traveling is time consuming, expensive, and logistically challenging (currently with the pandemic, it's also dangerous). I would consider having two separate events (a family party in Wisconsin and a friend party in Texas) instead of expecting people to travel for the party as well as the wedding later.

For dresses and suits, I'd either pick an online retailer that allows exchanges (Azazie, Lulu's, etc) or pick a chain store that has stores in locations where you live as well as where all the people in your wedding are (something like David's Bridal or Men's Warehouse will have a lot of locations). Then you send your bridesmaids and groomsmen instructions about what to order vs going with them in person to try on and get measured for outfits. If you do a wedding party through one of those chain retailers (David's Bridal, Men's Warehouse) you basically give the retailer the style, colors, etc you want and then the person in your wedding goes to their local store and the store looks up your account and sets them up with the correct garments in the proper size.

The location of your shower and/or bachelorette party will be wherever the host would like to have it. As far as alterations and fittings, everyone can take care of that wherever they live.

Thank you, yes with them living in Wisconsin and me in Texas we will most likely do the big chain stores to make it easier. Hopefully we wont run into any issues. Smiley heart

Ohhhh, thats a really cool idea. Letting people pick their own dress just in the same color. Probably with the approval of the bride to make sure she likes the dress. But i love that, to give variety. Smiley heart

I like that, the idea of everyone shopping together sounds fun. I know that cant always happen with the wedding being in a different state than the wedding party, but i would love to do that.

As far as the party and shower being the same weekend like that is super cool too. I like that idea. As far as any gifts you get at the shower, did yall fly or drive? Bc what do you do with gifts if you fly?
