My fiancee and myself got engaged December 25 2008. Everything was wonderful. I purchased my dress on July 2008 and started making plans. We booked a catering hall for April 11th and about 1 week or so later my fiancee lost his job. So now we are stuck with a catering hall that we cannot afford and we will loose our deposit. "Just lovely" I just get more upset as April 11th draws closer. So both families decided that we would do everything ourselves. His mom will cook and we will have to find a Hall that does not have a "PACKAGE" attached to it, just a simple hall so we can decorate it ourselves. The worst part about this whole situation is. I was watching MY FAIR WEDDING on We tv and there was this couple that lived literally around the block from me and was getting married. They used the exact same catering hall as ours and everything was paid for courtesy of We TV and MY FAIR WEDDING. I felt like this couple was living my dream. I thought planning a wedding was suppose to be fun.

I lost my job about six weeks ago. I did get a severance package that I was hoping to use to pay for some stuff, but it doesn't look that way. I have been actively looking since November and I haven'tgotten one call for an interview because the market is inundated with people looking for a job. Because I had already signed contracts, I called vendors explaining the situation and asked if I could pay a little each month instead of one big payment that I don't even know I'll have in December. Anything that I don't have lined up now, I am living without or friends are helping with. I would love to be on one of these shows myself. Maybe they need to come up with a one income wedding show that so many people can relate to. The irony in my situation is that I may end up getting married at the court house anyway because if I don't find a job in the next few months I have to get married for health insurance. Everything will work out one way or another I promise that!! Good luck!

I am very sorry to hear your FH lost his job. I guess the main thing to remember is that the only thing that matters is that you two celebreate your day with friends and family and your together and HAPPY!! Plus doing stuff yourself adds a lot of special touch to everything!!

I am usually a very creative person so if there is anything you need or are thinking of I would love to help you out.

Keep your head up its still going to be the best day of your life b/c your marrying the one you love.

Trust me I know how you feel my Financee lost his job as well and we are actually looking into pushing the wedding back a year which will allow us more time and hopefully a rebounding economy as well. I wish you the best of luck and believe me things will work out just fine.

Thanks so much for the support everyone. I am in no way happy or excited to know there are people out there in the wedding world that are hurting. But it's a comfort to know that I am not the only one in this situation. I watch all these wedding shows and read different blogs about people paying thousands on photography and paying so much money on catering halls and flowers. I wanted all of that. Though things are getting better it's just not as great as I would like it to be. Then someone said to me in a response to have Faith and trust in God and I have been doing that. I realized that it's not about how much money you spend on your wedding it's who you are marrying. So I got caught up in the whole wedding hype on... quote on quote " what a wedding is suppose to be like" and not what it's meant to be. Thanks so much everyone. Living in NY and trying to afford a wedding on peanuts is really hard but I know I'll find a way. Thanks for the support.

I'm really sorry to hear about eveything your going, it's so easy to get caught up in this whole "fairy tale" expensive wedding, we kind of all have our hearts and minds set on this over exagerated gala, but the truth is that at the end of the day, what matters is you and him, for you guys to enjoy your wedding day, just because you coudln't get the hall you wanted doesn't mean you can't have the wedding you always wanted, get creative! I once went to a wedding in a backyard and it was absolutely beautiful, candles everywhere, it was so simple and beautiful, so i wish you the absolute best, your wedding is just one day, but your marriage will last forever!

I am sorry to hear about your troubles, this economy has been terrible for us as well.We are getting married in May and have a $3K budget. Our cake is being made by culinary students at a vocational HS for $1/person! W/the exception of my bouquet and FH's boutinerre, all flowers are silk. We found a great deal on candles at a local craft store and got our vases and mirrors for centerpieces at the $1 store. The rest of my decor is 130 paper lanterns in differnt sizes that match our colors. We are making our own LED bulbs to light them (google "throwies").Check around to see if anybody you know knows vendors. My FH's dad has done work for a caterer & is giving us a GREAT deal! I found a student photographer on craigslist. Our bestman is a firefighter and we are getting the hall at the firehouse free! the church is free, my grandma is a member. making my own soap for favors. plastic plates&champagne flutes on ebay.smartyhadaparty.com for realistic plastic forks/knives. It can be done!Smiley smile

Marriage is between two entirely different kinds of people-a man and a woman-who complement each other in extraordinary ways. When they treat each other as equals, they both greatly benefit from their differences. www.sportwettenbonus.eu

The simple truth is, some marriages and relationships should not and cannot be saved. As harsh and evident as this truth is, it cannot be avoided in the case of some marriages and relationships. And in the end, when you have exhausted the solutions available to you, you simply must cut the tithes that bind.Bet365 Rollover
