Our Morning Reception...Breakfast

Winter Bride, on December 12, 2017 at 8:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Figuring out timeline details. Our ceremony is at 9 am. 70 guests who are mainly family are confirmed. Is serving many breakfast options from 10:00-12 pm appropriate (without sandwiches)? We'll cut our buttercream cake about noon.

10-12 is considered brunch. I would add some lunch options.

Your guests are likely to eat breakfast (something at least) before the ceremony.

I might be biased because I love breakfast and wouldn't mind eating it any time of day, but I don't think not having 'lunch' options is too big a deal as long there is enough quality breakfast options available for everyone.

    I would consider:

Omelettes (can be as fancy as you want, but I would go with some meat)

Quiche -- similar to omelette, but if you do not do stations, I think easier.

    Bacon or sausage

    Bagel and lox

    Home fries

I would have bloody maries, mimosas, wine. I guess you could add beer.

ETA -- something Vegan, maybe some type of pasta

So long as there's bacon, mimosas and bloody Mary fixings, I think you'll be set.

    Perhaps an omelet station...

Also, the breakfast weddings we've done have had chicken & waffles or some sort of quiche along with the standard breakfast options.

My FH's brother did a brunch for their morning/afternoon wedding. The one thing I remember the most was a crepe station. You could choose different fruit toppings and chocolate, strawberry, or whip cream on top. OR ALL OF THEM, it was great.

Also a mimosa station was cool too.

Yes, we have the omelette station and Belgium Made to Order waffles as far as stations with servers there.

Is that it? 2 stations for 70 people will take forever for people to get food...

No that's not it. We have the standard continental breakfast buffet aside from the fancy stations. Fruits, eggs, bacon, pastries, and nutella.

When I think continental breakfast I think cold cereals, bagels, and whole pieces of fruit like at a hotel. Not sure if that's all you are talking about or not but I'd make sure there's some meat options there like bacon, ham, or sausage

Honestly, 10-noon is brunch territory. I think you might want to throw in some lunch options as well. You also will want to stock up a nice mimosa bar and/or a bloody mary bar.

I'm considering a short 10 am ceremony with a brunch following. Breakfast stuff including waffle station plus some serious lunch items, maybe even a carving station. I'd add some lunch items to your menu.

We are doing a morning ceremony at 10am and brunch from 11a-2p. I have an omelette station, pancakes, bacon, sausage, pastries and I added a carved roast beef station and chilled peel and eat shrimp. I think there might even be a chicken option on the buffet.....we will have a regular wedding cake. I decided against the mimosa station as it was super expensive and I really don't think everyone is going to drink that many mimosas. I decided on open bar instead, that way everyone can order what ever they want to drink and I think it will be cheaper than the $18.00 a person they wanted to charge for the mimosa station. Good luck!
