Our first dance song..

Otis Redding - These Arms of Mine

These arms of mine, they are lonely,

Lonely and feeling blue.

These arms of mine, they are yearning,

Yearning from wanting you.

And if you would let them hold you,

Oh how grateful I will be.

These arms of mine, they are burning,

Burning from wanting you.

These arms of mine, they are wanting,

Wanting to hold you.

And if you would let them hold you,

Oh how grateful I will be.

Come on, come on please let them.

Just be my little woman.

Just be my lover.

I need me somebody, somebody to treat me right.

I need your arms, loving arms to hold me tight.

I need your, I need your tender lips, to hold me,

To hold me together when I'm around you.

Do you think this song would be okay for "our song" ?? DH and I don't dance and we dnt really have a song..i've been very indecisive about finding a song and DH doesn't seem to care too much.. we have to take lessons and stuff..is it depressing? What're your thoughts?

Personally, I've always liked that song. And honestly, it doesn't really matter. I've gone to youtube and typed in "wedding first dance" and got everything from "I like big butts" to "I've had the time of my life"--complete with the whole Dirty Dancing routine and all. You make that first dance anything you want it to be. As long as the two of you like it, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

Thanks to Rhaiza and Shannon.. i really appreciate your feedback. We are def. going to do a slow dance song.. there is no way we have enough rhythm and guts to do a dance routine, tho that would be hilarious Smiley smile

I really love the song ..and it makes me wanna sway and swish around hanging onto my man..and thats why i thought it'd make a good song for us to dance to. DH and I have such different and diverse tastes in music ..he'd probably prefer some crazy 80's song..and it's just not my thing. I'm trying to appease both our tastes.. its harder than I thought.. LOL

I will also email my DJ..if anyone knows some really great first dance songs, it'd be someone in the biz! We aren't doing mom/son and dad/daughter dances, so we want our dance to be short, sweet and reflect US.

Any other first dance songs that aren't country or rap are welcome!!

How about this.. what is YOUR first dance song going to be??

We are doing a country song (Johnny and June by Heidi Newfield)

But other non-country suggestions and more "classic songs":

John Hiatt, Have a Little Faith in Me

    Etta James, At Last

    The Righteous Brothers, Unchained Melody

Ben E. King, Stand by Me

    Nat King Cole, L-O-V-E

My suggestion is take your time. You're still 6 months away from your wedding and music will change between now and then. You might be sitting at dinner some time between now and then and all of a sudden you might hear the perfect song.

If you still don't have a clue 1 month before your wedding, get your DJ involved. He should be able to make some great suggestions after speaking with you and your DH.

    Good luck!

"And I wanna hear your voice in the morning when I rise

I think I know I'm just a normal man, only made of sand except when you're by my side

Will you love me, teach me, don't leave me I pray

And when I, and I'm thinking of the times

Your hands in mine, together we will stay

    You made me better today

    Better than I was before

And now my heart can rest and I will search no more

    You made me better today"
