Otter pops

Kyra, on May 22, 2018 at 6:08 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
Has anyone had otter pops at the wedding reception. We are having them and I want to know the best way to keep them frozen. I would like to just use ice and not dry ice. Would ice and salt be cold enough? should I do dry ice in the bottom of a cooler with ice over it then otter pops and more ice?

How long do they need to be kept cold? I like these as something later in the evening. Surely, you'll have access to a freezer?

I think dry ice is the way to go. Do you have a caterer? They may be able to offer you better insight. I think the salt mixed with ice might get messy!

I think salt and ice would be cold enough, but as PP asked, how long do you need it for?

I want to do this, my fiance LOVES them more than anything! We are keeping them in the freezer at our venue until dessert, then having the baker set them out in a metal ice bucket with ice and salt. I'm so happy to hear we aren't the only ones!

Hi MrsD! I was wondering how this went for you? We want to the same thing for our daughter and to have people self serve.

Some venues have freezers on site where they could be stored or else packed in ice cubes in a large cooler.

Super well, just keep them in a freezer right until you serve them and put a LOT of ice in there! Keep scissors nearby so they are easy to open. If it's hot outside, people will love them. Costco has alcoholic ones too which we've had at parties since then.

Did you use only regular ice or also dry ice? People are self serving so we’re worried about them reaching into a tub with dry ice

Just regular ice! We had kids so I didn't want to risk dry ice. I don't think people care if they are super melted, just put them out with dessert & people will take them if they want them Smiley smile
