Other alternatives for a candy bar

💗💗, on January 3, 2019 at 9:07 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17
Hi, I’ve been to lots of weddings that have a candy bar or a candy/dessert station. We are having cake and ice cream already, so we don’t need more sweets. Does anyone have any alternatives to the candy bar/station. I like the candy bar, but I feel like it’s overly done and we already have enough sweets .

A candy bar isn't a necessity. If you feel you already have enough desserts, then you don't need an alternative.

Thank you for responding me, I like the idea of the candy bar, however it’s been done so much. I was wondering if people have any other ideas . Similar concept, but not candy .

If you don't want to do sweets you could do a popcorn bar or a trail mix bar with different toppings.

How about just a dessert bar? Smores bar? I've seen people do donuts, milk & cookies, cake pops, and mini pies. Snow cones could be fun, or cotton candy. I think you could make anything you want into a "bar". If you want more savory choice you could do baked potato, Mac & cheese, Chilli, mashed potato, pasta, salad.... The options are endless.

We are thinking about doing a popcorn bar with a variety of different flavored popcorn. You can order gourmet popcorn or do butter popcorn with choices of different seasonings to add.

There’s so many other things you can do from a s’mores bar to a non edible option like making your own candle 🕯 or glow sticks.

Popcorn is a great option. Or fresh pretzels!

We have a dessert bar with 4 different treats, then a s’mores bar that will open towards the end of the night as a favor. Our set up will have Oreos, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and York Peppermints among with the standard chocolate for the s’mores. We have little sternos where people can roast their own marshmallows, so I’m hoping it’ll get a lot of use!

Popcorn bar? Donut bar? Ice cream bar instead of just cake & ice cream? Or something during dinner, like a potato bar or chili bar or pasta bar or anything that has a lot of toppings!

I think the popcorn idea is the best! Towards the end of the night it would be great to have several desserts to choose from PLUS fun popcorn to try. I love having a salty snack if I've been drinking especially.

We did a big ol Pittsburgh Cookie table. We laid out 14-15 different types of cookies (about 1200 of them!) with a stack of tin tie bags so that they doubled as our favors. My side of the family is not from Pittsburgh and had never seen one done so it was a huge hit with them!
