Organized dance for first dance or just whatever

Laura, on May 13, 2019 at 9:50 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
Ok so my dilemma. Wedding is in a month. My fiance doesn't like organized dance. Dad isn't much of a dancer. I never really took dance lessons but I fiddled some with waltz. How important is it to follow an actual dance or to do the emotional no dance away? If we do the sway, does that look bad? Not that I'm wanting to impress my guests but I don't know if I should be embarrassed or if something is expected of me. What did you do or what do you plan to do? Thanks

A sway is totally fine! It may make sense to have the dj fade out your song early Smiley smile

A sway is perfectly fine. We're also keeping songs short because I know my FH and dad both won't want to dance.

It’s definitely a personal choice and based on what you’ve posted, the sway back and forth will work best for you. If you haven’t danced before, trying to learn in a month is really cutting it close (I’m a dance teacher and wouldn’t recommend it).

I agree with pp to keep the songs short (cut it yourself or ask dj to fade out) - especially helpful if you or your FH or dad don’t like being the center of attention.

Personally I don't like choreographed dances.. I feel like the couple is always concentrated on the task rather than each other. I vote the sway!
