Organ Music

Lauren, on June 13, 2016 at 9:08 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

We just had a meeting with the person that is going to be playing the organ and some piano at our church wedding. We went into this not familiar with any organ songs. She played a few and we chose the songs we liked the best, but after we left my fiance and I were having second thoughts about the choices. Does anybody have any recommendations of organ music?

By "organ music" I assume you mean "music that sounds good when played on an organ".

We will have only organ at our ceremony. For the entrance/seating, we're using Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. Processional, Pachelbel's Canon in D. We'll also have a hymn for everyone to sing, we're using "Morning has broken" for that. Then the recessional will be Ode to Joy.

Seating: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (Piano arr.)

Processional: Home (Piano, arranged by the Piano Guys)

Recessional: Saint-Saëns Symphony No.3 on the Organ, you may recognize it as If I Had Words from the movie Babe

Pachelbel's Canon in D is good..Uhm, anything by any classical composer, really. So for example: Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, and just about anything from the Baroque period. A lot of their stuff was specifically composed for organ, so they would be ideal choices! I hope that helps!
