I would make sure you’ve tried on dresses of a similar silhouette in person first. But otherwise it’s fine as long as it’s a reputable site and not an Asian knockoff site.

I agree with Kelly. I have a friend who is doing that as well. I told her to make sure she gets her measurements accurate otherwise the dress won't fit.

It's great. Cheaper, more access to different styles. Very important to measure oneself properly and to read both the reviews on sizing of the brands as well as the site themselves. Agree with trying on similar styles to the planned purchase so there aren't any negative surprises when it arrives.

There are several sites that allow you to return them. I ordered a lot online and tried them all on and narrowed it down to the one. Good luck.

I purchased a dress on DHGate. It was very well-made and looked exactly as it was advertised. The style just didn’t look right on me. It’s helpful to know what silhouette looks right on you before ordering.

Try azazie.com. They let you basically “rent” the dresses at home for $15 shipped to you so you can try them on.

Nope. Did it. Regretted it. Bought a custom skirt online for my bridal bodysuit. Well-made but nothing like the photo I sent and did NOT look designer at all. Looked cheap. I finally found a skirt at a bridal shop where I also found a gorgeous reception wedding dress for less than $200! I would instead look for trunk shows, sample sales, or discontinued dresses at salons to get the designer quality you'll want in your wedding photos.

Be careful with sizing! wedding dress sizing is different from regular street wear. i believe wedding dresses should be 2 sizes larger than your usual size. you can definitely find some great deals online tho! i recommend going to a store to try on dresses in different styles to figure out exactly what you like / what flatters your body and then if you find that item or similar online go for it! Just FYI, as with any wedding dress you will most likely need to get it altered.

i thought i knew what style i loved and when i tried it on it was totally wrong for my body! i see your wedding isn't until 2022 so you have lots of time. also, trying on wedding dresses is so much fun!

It really depends on what you are looking for. I personally ordered a dress online because I could not find anything like it in any bridal shop. It isn't horrible (made to size so fits fairly well through waist, hips and in length) but it will need some help from a local tailor to make it perfect (shoulders are too long and i want sleeves). It is important to have an idea of what you are looking for before going shopping online though. Sometimes it doesn't look on you as it does in the picture.

Obviously, first make sure you know the style of dress you like and have had this style on your body before. Next - Do your research to see if it's a reputable website. (Not stealing designers' photos, they have a clear method of contact, etc.) If it is a legit site and not a "we make knockoffs" site, great. Read reviews, see what others are saying - outside of their website. They obviously won't be featuring negative reviews on their sales site.

Read and understand their return/exchange policy. This is so important.

Get accurate (EXTREMELY) accurate measurements and use the sizing chart their website provides.

If you are going to order, order EARLY. This way if you hate it, it doesn't fit, have to return it, whatever - you still have time to buy a new dress.

Can it work? Sure. But is it worth the risk? That's for you to decide!
