Ordered wrong dress size!

Tiffany, on August 24, 2019 at 10:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

ASAP HELP.

I picked out my dress and without thinking clearly, I ordered 2 sizes up, just Incase I gained weight.

I am now realizing that was the stupidest thing I have ever done. I placed the order this past Friday (August 23rd 2019), I’m not sure if the bridal salon can change it or if it’s too late, I’m horrified because I now know that the dress can only be altered if I stayed the same size.. help!!! Please tell me that salons can contact the manufacturer and change it on Monday!!

I'm not sure if most bridal shops are open on weekends but it doesn't hurt to call in the morning and leave a message if no one answers. I don't think with it being only yesterday that there should be any problems though.

Definitely try to call and leave a message and also consider an email if that’s an option. The salon I got my dress at did not order it the day I bought it-they placed multiple orders once a week. Maybe you’ll get lucky and that will be the case!

I'd be shocked if they couldn't. I'm sure they haven't even started production, let alone pulled and cut fabric. Call tomorrow. If not, then call Monday. I'm sure it'll be fine

I would also be shocked if they couldn’t change it, it’s been a day, they probably haven’t gotten the order yet (since it’s the weekend) and I doubt if they did that they’ve done anything about it. You’ll be fine girl! Leave a message immediately and call as soon as they open Monday. It will be ok!

If they can’t change the size with the order it is always easier to alter a larger dress vs a smaller one!

That is not true. I ordered a size up because my hips are bigger than my waist. They were able to take it in a couple of times. I also saw a girl during her fitting whose dress was too small and they said they could take it out. I would consider another seamstress if they. Cant order your correct size

If you cant change it, having to alter a dress 2 sizes down shouldnt be an issue? If it was like 4 sizes that may change the look of the dress and not work but I think you'll be okay!

Call them ASAP, but if they can’t change the order, they can def alter it. I’m surprised they didn’t advise you on the sizing... if they said they won’t alter the dress if it is too big, find someone else. That is absolutely possible!

I agree. The store I ordered mine at has shorter hours Sunday, but still open. It can be taken in by a seamstress, but if its 2 sizes too big it will be expensive. My dress alterations quote was $500. The dress fits me perfectly, but I need a bustle and hem. I'm not sure what your dress is like, but if it needs hem and bustle and to be taken in, it could get pricey.

They should not have let you order such a big size.

Let us know how it goes!

I bought a sample sale dress that'll need to be taken in (it's probably 2 sizes too big), but I'm surprised they didn't counsel you better on this.

Did the salon recommend you go two sizes up? Are you planning to get it altered/fitted or wear off the rack? Did they take your measurements?

If they did then it might be the right size! If you are planning to wear with no altering I would call as soon as you can and check in and say you went too big. They should definitely be able to change it at this point.
