Ordered Sample Kit from Minted!

Ashli, on March 27, 2017 at 12:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

Hey Everyone!

I started working on a few wedding planning projects today: a binder with checklists, calendars, etc. & I also ordered the free "wedding samples kit" from Minted. While I cannot tell exactly what comes in the kit, it looked as though it includes samples of different cardstock, an insert with the various ink colors/options and a few sample invitations. Has anyone else ordered this kit? If so, I would love to hear your feedback!

Also, I have seen a lot of back-and-forth regarding Minted vs. Wedding Paper Divas...Does WPD offer something similar to Minted's sample kit? I am not as worried about it being "free," as I would really just like to see the options and compare the two side by side. I didn't see anything on their website, but that does not mean it is not available.

I haven't ordered the samples yet, so I'm not quite sure what it consists of, but here is the link https://www.weddingpaperdivas.com/services/ordering-samples.htm

I have used WPD for everything except wedding programs and you can get samples. I could be wrong but when I compared them and Minted it seemed WPD was cheaper. WPD usually always has some type of sale going on. I have saved either 20%, 40%, and free shipping on all of my orders.

I got sample kits from both WPD and Minted. They are essentially the same kit to be honest lol almost all the same colors, textures, papers, etc. I typically find/get emailed better coupon codes for WPD in comparison to Minted though.

I ordered all the free sample kits I could find. Still haven't been able to make a decision haha. I got samples from Minted, WPD, Vistaprint, and Magnetstreet (they do paper invites too). To me, they all seem very similar. I'm probably going to have to price out everything I want from all their sites to make a decision based on final cost. I haven't really seen any sales for Minted, but WPD and magnetstreet have 40% off occasionally, and vistaprint gets up to 50% (but I've seen 70% off Vistaprint on Black Friday).

I just checked your date - your wedding isn't until 2018, so you can probably afford to wait until Black Friday to get the best deals on invites. Also, sometimes there's a 50% off Groupon for WPD and magnetstreet. So you definitely don't have to pay full price on them!

I got samples from a few different companies, Minted and WPD being among them. I preferred the design options and quality of Minted despite the fact that WPD is a bit cheaper. I got the sample kit from Minted and it comes in a folder that has different types of their paper options, showing how images and printing will look based on what option you pick, I believe it also comes with envelopes and various invitation samples. I actually got that and paid for several samples I specifically wanted to see (they are not too expensive) in addition to the sample packet and it really helped to narrow things down. What I liked most about them is that they allow the consumers to select new designs by independent designers who get direct credit for their work--that's why it costs a bit more than WPD. That selection process makes the designs more artistic and unique, IMO. We ended up not using Minted but it was a very close second choice.

I just received the sample pack from from magnetstreet. They offer free samples too. I thought it was nice, they even include a sample magnet save the date and a water bottle label too.

Thanks to @Mrs._Tinky, I just ordered the sample kit from WPD! I'm pretty excited. From what I've seen so far, it looks like Minted has more of what I am looking for in terms of overall design. But we will see!

Now that I switched from a laptop to my mobile and used the WPD link above, I can confirm that the mobile site seems easier to navigate than the desktop version. Just FYI.

Oh awesome! Thank you! I'll have to check out Vistaprint and Magnetstreet, too!

I was more so looking in terms of STDs, since those will have to be set out within the next few months. But I totally hear you, @Amanda--We have just over a year, so hopefully by starting this process now I won't be scrambling (as much) later. Smiley smile

The sample kits from vistaprint and magnet street come with a sample save the date magnets, if you were looking at getting magnet STDs!

@Ashli, the samples we hand-picked were actually STDs! You can order samples of pretty much anything, it's great. I can't remember how much they ran per sample but I went a bit crazy got a whole box full for about $15. And most of them (if not all of them) have matching invitation suites once you're ready to order those. We were very satisfied with their selection and quality of both STDs and invites Smiley smile

I ordered all of the sample packs. I LOVED the gold foil and laser cut ones but couldn't make myself spend almost $600 on invitations. I ended up just getting a template off Etsy for $12 and nice extra thick paper from a paper specialty store. I'm going to print them from an office store. I feel much better about spending a fifth of the price.

I used Minted and was blown away with the quality but it is on the pricey side compared to WPDs, VistaPrint, and Zazzle.

Both have sample kits, so order both! I ended up using Minted though because of the free address printing, they look SOOOOOOO good. They also constantly have sales!

I got my wedding invitations from Minted. I love them, but they were pricey. I ordered my rehearsal dinner invites from zazzle and actually wished I knew about zazzle for the wedding invitations as well. Yes, the ones from minted are nice, but I found more of a variety on zazzle and designs I loved.

Another thing is that things aren't as customizable on minted. Before you get yoir heart set on any website, start customizing one so you can see if it will work.

I ordered both sample packs from Minted and WPD... honestly they are very, very similar. Both have multiple invites/rsvp cards in various weights - plus they send you samples of their gold foil cards and lasercut styles.

After I had some time to look at each site, i also ordered specific invitation samples from WPD and i got 8 of them for free because they were running a special at the time. It helped me narrow down the pattern and I knew exactly what I was getting before I ordered.

WPD ended up being the route we took because I kept getting more coupons for them and I liked their patterns. We did our wedding site through Minted though (and paid the $40 for it to be private). So no complaints about Minted either.

I think take a look at both and see what patterns you like more - WPD was great though (and is generally slightly cheaper) we had custom changes -- 2 separate designs with one invite completely in German! And they were fabulous. Smiley winking
