Order of events

kara, on August 23, 2017 at 4:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Does anyone have a list of the events and timeline for when they should occur (bouquet toss, garter, cake cutting, father/daughter dance, first dance)? Trying to plan. I do not want to stop in the midst of partying to do these items. Should I do them all first and then get back to the fun?

For my cousins wedding she did the bridal party announcement went right up to the cake for the cutting dances her first dance and fdd. We proceeded to eat dinner right after all this.

I think it went wonderfully and smooth and allowed people to leave as they chose throughout the night without the fear of missing something

Here's our tentative timeline. Hopefully the pic isn't too grainy.

There is no order that "should" be followed. You can do (or not do) anything you want at the reception, and in any order.

You can do what you want but here's what we did-

-First dance right after entering reception

-went around to tables during dinner to greet everyone

    - towards end of dinner we did speeches, father daughter dance, mother son dance.

    -cake cutting

    Partied for a couple hours

    - bouquet toss and garter toss

    More partying!

Here's most of mine. There is no set order you must follow. I've seen plenty of cake cutting before dinner and special dances:

Your venue may be able to help. This is the sample timeline my venue provided me:

    Timeline:

    9:30 AM - Client arrives

    11:00 AM - Ceremony Begins

11:30 AM - Cocktail Hour, Bar and Beverage Stations Open

12:15 PM - Guests Invited to be Seated

Wedding Party Lines up for Introductions

    12:30 PM - Introductions

    Bride and Groom First Dance

    Blessing

    12:45 PM - Meal Served

    1:30 PM - Special Dances (Father/Daughter, Mother/Groom)

2:30 PM - Toasts (no champagne poured)

    Cake Cutting

    Bouquet Toss

    3:30 PM - Bar Closes

4:00 PM - Event Ends - Last Song or Formal Exit

Obviously, change the times based on when your stuff starts. Mine was a day time affair and had a firm end time.

I've seen some people do all the special dances at the same time as the first dance. There's really a ton of flexibility.

I can't add to this. In my region/social circle we have open dancing between served courses, to work off all the calories. No one tosses anything.
