Order of dances at the reception

Helen, on June 10, 2014 at 6:00 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

What is the proper order of dances at the reception? Is it bride and groom first -- and then father of the bride? Or??? And after that?

Not 100% sure (I guess you can do whatever you want) but I think it's:

    1st Dance: Bride and Groom

2nd Dance: Father and Daughter (bride)

3rd Dance: Mother and Son (Groom)

You can do whatever you want - but I think usually the Bride and Groom have their first dance before the floor is opened up to guests.

What LadyMonk said. You get all of your formal dances out of the way (so to speak) and then invite everyone out to the floor. We are doing this:

    1 - our dance

    2- My dad and I

    3- Mother Son

    4- Bridal Party

    5- everyone else.

Then we have the typical dances mixed in toward the latter part of the evening.
