Orchards for Cider and Doughnuts

Amanda, on August 27, 2018 at 12:41 AM Posted in Michigan Planning 0 7
So as my wedding approaches the last detail I really want to nail down is the food favors /dessert item to serve. Living in MI and hosting a brunch reception in December, I thought the logical choice would be to serve cider and doughnuts. You know the ones with cinnamon and sugar, or just the plain ones that mix perfectly with that apple cider...

Well I realize that most orchards shut down in mid November, but any suggestions for what I can do? Anyone have a favorite place that might be able to handle a bulk order?

Blake's may be open all year round. I know they do some kind of event with Christmas trees during the winter..

Not sure where you are exactly located, but I believe that I remember seeing that as of this year. Blake's announced it will be open year round. If not, I think Yates is open until sometime in December. Not sure about Westview, but you could check there too!

Depending on how many people you're inviting, you could always make apple cider donuts. They're pretty easy to make, provide a great source of stress release (but I stress bake, so that might just be me), and I think they're better after a few days. If you're only having, like, 50 or so people come, then I'd go this route. Any more and I'd look into the places the pps suggested. Smiley smile

Oh my gosh, I'm ALSO hosting a brunch wedding in December in Michigan!! How fun!!! Where are you getting married?

Yes, I would check Yates Cider Mill or Spicers for donuts. Don't know if they cater or deliver, though.

Also--if the donuts don't work out, my fiance and I are actually going to be doing a cinnamon roll tower instead of a cake! We thought that was wintery and yummy for a brunch dessert. Not a lot of bakeries will do them but we found one that would for a very reasonable price--Home Bakery in Rochester. They're also baking sheets of cinnamon rolls to cut and serve to the guests. The picture below is not from them, but it's the general idea! Check them out!
