I think is super fun and different since not every wedding has one. What do you think about having one ?

Is this normally part of your culture?

As long as you're serving alcohol, it will probably be a blast. I don't see much crazy hour at a dry wedding.

Hi AD! I'm Dominican as well!!! :-) We are also doing an Hora Loca. We hired a company called Crespita Entertainment, and we're super excited about it! They do an amazing job! My cousin attended a wedding with an Hora Loca by this company, and she said it was the most fun she's ever had at a wedding. They really got the party going!

Here is the link to their website if you are interested: http://www.crespitaent.com/la-hora-loca.html

@melissaErin is a group of people that come to your party and do some kind of a show or dance with the people in some colorful customs.

MMB: is not, is some kind of a trend in Miami. That's why I'm debating because it looks fun but No one I know have done it before.

If it's not part of your culture you should not do it just because it seems fun.

Paty, if this is not part of your culture, I would skip it. It could be offensive to those that do celebrate this as part of their heritage.

If it's not yours, don't do it. It's like having a Lion Dance if you're not Chinese.....

Paty, as a Dominican, I can tell you I would not be the least bit offended. Go for it! It really gets the party going and I don't know any latinos in my group of friends and family that would be offended if a non hispanic person did this. It doesn't really have any important meaning behind it, just a way to get everyone dancing. Since you don't know anyone personally who has done this, it would be an awesome, unexpected surprise for your guests. :-)

Thank you all for your responses. Where I live I don't think anyone can get offended cause if you know Miami you should know, us hispanics adopt each others culture (gotta love Miami)

@honeybee&AD at least I have two dominicans approval Smiley laugh

Hi Paty. I'm Cuban, and I agree with Honeybee and AD. I don't think anyone in Miami would be offended by an Hora Loca. I know some older people who have been mildly offended by the revealing outfits, but that's a whole different story. My friend did the LED people for her wedding, instead of the Carnival people, and their outfits were not revealing and totally different than most Hora Locas. Just a throwing it out there Smiley smile

Hora loca is a super fun way to end the big night, plus you'll have fun awesome fun pics. My fave one is the Brazilian kind. I even end of dancing a bit, even if I'm working. lol

I saw a lot of Latin weddings doing one and I asked my parents and they had no idea what it was. For reference my family is Cuban and Puerto Rican. It's not part of my culture, family culture or otherwise, and I know my grandmother would leave because of the noise so we decided ultimately not to do it.

I personally don't think it's right to do a cultural celebration if it's not your own culture. If I went to a wedding where neither family was Jewish and they danced the hora and lifted the bride up in a chair, I'd be a little offended. It's cultural appropriation and you'd get some side eye.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding two weeks ago in Miami and they had one. The bride is Cuban and her whole family is in Miami. He is white and his family was taken by such surprise but everyone had a good time. I feel like it's a Hispanic thing but I feel like it's using the culture that surrounds your wedding. I think they're fun.
