Should I postpone my wedding in New York on August 30? I feel there are so many pros and cons no matter what I do so can’t decide. Let me know what you guys think!

I personally would not attend a wedding this summer, especially in NY.

I think it depends on the number of guests you are expecting, how your FH feels, whether or not your venue / vendors feel it's safe.

I don't feel like August is too early, but I do feel like you have a moral responsibility to keep your guests safety a primary concern. If you're having a smaller wedding (less than 75) I feel like you're going to be safe. Just my opinion.

We invited about 125. And our venue just called yesterday saying they are having weddings as usual and she seemed very optimistic and nonchalant about it. But when I asked if dance floors are allowed/what mask requirements they have she couldnt really answer my questions

The mask requirements will likely not get "pushed" or mandated but could be a requirement. Check with the local CDC for more guidance.

As someone in NJ, I wouldn't feel comfortable attending a NY wedding this summer. Also, I would anticipate masks being required up until the end of this year at the earliest. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they would be required until we have a vaccine.

I personally would postpone it, but of course I'm not in your position so it's tough to say. Best of luck

Are most of your guests local? New York announced today that people traveling in from 9 different states (could be expanded to more states) must quarantine for 14 days when coming into New York. So that could complicate things.

Almost everyone is coming from the same state or just a couple states over. But thank you for that information

Hi there - I just signed postponement papers today for a 11/6 BK wedding so I feel you tremendously. After basically knowing in my head for weeks we’d postpone I got gun shy when going to sign. It felt so final and like things COULD get better. Sure, they could. And someone could also get very sick or at a minimum feel incredibly pressured and uncomfortable. As long as that risk is still there, it felt irresponsible personally; and I will repeat it is a personal choice. I say this having 3 of 4 members of our immediate families in older age ranges and / or diabetic that went into our decision as well. Go with your gut and try not to over analyze so you can get back to the true celebration of your relationship. Now we’re off to eat a decadent cheese board and pop some champagne 💕✨

Im having a wedding in september. right now the cap on gatherings in phase 4 is 50. im not going to wait to see if it will go up. i just want to see if the 50 includes staff theyre not sure. i will probably end up doing an intimate dinner less than 50. wont be the same but im not confident there will be a vaccine next year and i dont wanna do this do all over again lol

I was supposed to have my wedding July 11, 2020 postponed it till September 6th. We cut our. guest list from 165 to 90 People so basiclly just immediate family will be attending (which is what we wanted to begin with) It all depends on what your comfortable with. If you dont care about having a smaller guest list then continue on with what you planned!

AGREED!!!!! I feel the same exact way! Every other bride I speak too is post poning till 2021. Are you having a band at your wedding? I am not sure if it makes sense to have one or not if we are only having around 75 people or less

Are you in NYC? My venue told us the current maximum for gatherings is 150 and they are still only in phase 3.

I think your venue is quite mistaken. im in mid hudson region in phase 3 only maximum of 25 are allowed in a social gathering. in phase 4 50 are allowed however wedding venues, along with gyms, casinos, and malls are not part of the initial phase 4 reopening as previously believed. cuomo is going to release those guidelines within the next few days hopefully since phase 4 is going to be divided into mini-phases. you might be able to get away with the phase 3 restrictions of 25% capacity indoor and 33% outdoor if your venue is operating soley as a restaurant and there is no mingling of guests.
