Opinion on Reception Length

Kristin, on August 13, 2019 at 9:12 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
Hi everyone! Although there is not a whole lot we can do to change this, I’m curious your opinions on how short my reception will be. We are doing a brunch wedding that starts at 11am. Ceremony 11-1130; photos for 30-60 mins; reception for 2 hours. Do you think it’s bad that it’s short?

It seems common for earlier receptions to be on the shorter side. I don’t think the length of the reception is a big deal! Two hours is plenty of time to eat and socialize.

No, I think that's fine. In my culture the wedding reception is literally just two hours to eat and drink aha.

Yes and no. It's fine if it's local. I like shorter reception times personally. As a traveler I may have mixed feelings. Driving a great distance or flying may seem like a lot of work for short wedding. Not that I wouldn't do it though.

That sounds like the perfect timeline for an afternoon wedding.

I think that sounds great. From the morning weddings I've been to, there is typically less dancing so two hours sounds perfect!

My whole wedding is only 4-5 hours long. Guests arrive at 4 small cocktail hour (about 40 minutes) ceremony at 445 then dinner people can stay as long as they want but Fh and I are taking off at 9pm

Oh perfect. Thank you everyone. That makes me feel a lot better. We have to be out of there by 3p because the venue does night weddings too, so I think we should be good! 🤞🏼

I totally agree, people probably won't be doing a lot of drinking/dancing that early and I assume that you won't have as many meal courses either. Plenty of time.
