Opinion on French macarons as favors?

Hi everyone! I'm on the fence about leaving a favor for our guests, since I know a lot of the time they get forgotten and left behind. Hi everyone! I'm on the fence about leaving a favor for our guests, since I know a lot of the time they get forgotten and left behind. If we do a favor, we want it to be edible so at least it won't go to waste and somehow they'll get eaten (rather than a coozie, chapstick, etc. that might not get used). I also think something handmade is more special. I'm an amateur baker and everyone knows it's my passion, so I thought French macarons (not the coconut ones!) would be appropriate! I had the idea to give each guest a cute little clear box (tied with a bow and tag "thanks for joining us" or something) with 2-3 macarons each - which would be made from scratch by me.

Am I crazy to think I can make 2-3 macarons per guest?? We're inviting around 100 people. I would definitely make them weeks in advance and freeze them until we need to assemble the boxes. Baking them and assembling them is right up my alley - I love doing that kind of stuff and wouldn't mind the time-consuming part of it as long as I plan appropriately.

Just wanted to get your feedback if it's worth the effort and cost. Almond flour is expensive - I should probably figure out how much I would need and what the cost would be. Perhaps a local baker would be able to make them for less. Now I'm just talking out loud haha but I would love to hear what you think!!

The almond factor would be my only worry due to allergies.

Have you ever made macarons? They are a little tricker than the normal cookie. I think one would be fine per guest. You can find them frozen at some grocery stores now (maybe even big box stores)

I have gotten a huge bag of almond flour at costco (maybe bjs) and it wasn't too bad.

I have one with an allergy (coworker) but we've been over the macaron thing when I've brought them in to work, so that should be no problem!

I have made them! I enjoy baking and think the effort behind making them would make them more special as a favor. I have a Costco membership and will definitely have to check out their almond flour prices!

I'm doing this for my wedding actually! I'm making the shells in advance and freezing them. Closer to the wedding, I will assemble the macarons with filling, put them in their clear boxes and tie with ribbon, and then put all the favors in the freezer until it's time to take them to the venue. Macarons are actually better after they have been frozen, so it's a win win! They will look and taste amazing, and I can pace out the work involved. I'm doing 2 macarons per favor, so that one can be my fave flavor and the other can be my fiance's. =)
