Open seating? Crazy amount of stuff to do, 3 weeks left

Jessica, on September 16, 2019 at 10:25 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
So..3 weeks to go and I'm all over the place.
I have 65 ppl coming and honestly thinking about just saying"sit where you want"

It's going to be two rectangular 10person tables and one long farmhouse table for the rest of the folks (due to venue size etc)

I just want to say sit where you like lol

I guess it depends on if you are worried about certain people sitting next to each other. If you want specific family at certain seats you need to reserve them and then tell them where to sit and if you have some people that don’t like others that might be a problem or what if a couple doesn’t have two seats together but they want to sit together? I’m all for seating arrangements to avoid all of this but only you know your crowd and how they will be with open seating.

Agreed wholeheartedly. I'd definitely consider reserving seats for family/wedding party if you want them near you. Otherwise, I think this setup will probably force people to sit pretty optimally (i.e. not leaving gaps in the farmhouse table), so unless you have a reason to arrange people a certain way, you can probably get away with open seating here.

Thanks to the ladies on WeddingWire, I'm also team assigned tables! Don't want to run the risk of groups getting split up or moving chairs all over the place to accommodate per table. That's how you end up with a table of four and then a table of twelve Smiley atonished

Especially with one long farmhouse table, I think a seating chart is essential, otherwise people are going to sit without leaving enough room to consider everyone else’s guests. It would be a Big mess of people asking eachother to shift down, and too many moving parts.

If it's going to be such a long table, I would bite the bullet and just make a seating chart! It could get chaotic when people are trying to sit down

Honestly, I would take half an hour and make a seating chart--it is SO MUCH easier on your guests!
