It depends. If you or you FH have a cocktail you enjoy? Or maybe something simple vodka cranberry or you go with a color that works.

What do you and your guests usually drink? Not everyone likes beer or wine so have other options available.

We opted to do 2 signature drinks, a his and a hers. We chose drinks that we like. His was whiskey-based (whiskey punch) and mine was champagne-based (French 77). You can do things that you like to drink or even ones that match your colors. I just kind of Googled signature drink ideas and thought about what I like to drink at events like a wedding.

We're doing vodka and cranberry, rum and coke, a dark beer, a light beer, and then a red wine and a white wine.

In my opinion, offer what your guests and you both like, the last thing you want is to do is spend all that money on an open bar and not let people enjoy themselves. I got lucky with my venue, I supply the alcohol which means whatever doesn’t get consumed goes home with me. I wish you the best of luck!

    Hi
I think an open bar is wonderful and some ideal are let you groommens come up with a drink with a snack and let your bridesmaids do the same to make it fun have a challenge with the both to see who can come up with better ideals. I feel it's your special day but have a little twist in it to make it memoriable.

Oh perfect! I would buy the generics, things that both you and your guests like. This way you’re not left with an overload of things you don’t like. I have been stocking up for the last 2 months and still have 6 months to go

Beer & wine are fine. Adding a signature drink is a bonus. Do you & your fiancé like the same type of hard alcohol? I would choose only 1 type but create his/her drinks. Like for vodka a dry martini for his (or cranberry & vodka) while a sweet strawberry martini for hers. Rum? Rum & coke for his, a blend rum sweet tiki drink for hers. 🍹 🍸

I like the wine and beer with signature drinks. I say if it's possible do 2 signature drinks one sweeter drink and a stronger one. Or beer, wine and a mimosa bar if its a daytime wedding.

I think for an open bar you want to try and accommodate the masses. Personally I’m not a fan of signature drinks at wedding because I feel like people know what they’re going to drink anyway.
We’re having a variety of red, white and sparkling wines, a few different beers, and 3 different spirits to go with mixers.

My dad is a home brewer and made the beer for my sister's wedding and one of my friend's. He's making us a grapefruit ale, a pale ale (my favorite), and an oktoberfest. In addition to that we're serving red and white wine. My FH doesn't like beer or wine so he and I are making 10 gallons of a sparkling peach sangria as our signature cocktail. I think if you're going to serve beer you should have at least two options and wine should serve a red and white. I think a classic cocktail is always a good choice for a cocktail if you just want to serve one or two (margarita, cosmo, whiskey sour, etc)
