Yep, obviously depends on your areas rules, but where I live they can't serve shots. But guests can order liquors in a rocks glass, just without the ice haha. Just don't take it like a shot in front of the bartenders or they won't be allowed to serve you anymore.

This was standard at every venue we looked at. Other than at destination weddings, we've only attended one wedding where shots were allowed and people were getting ridiculously drunk.

That is pretty standard. Guests can order liquor nearly anywhere but shots are generally not allowed outside of independent bars.

Agree with the others- it’s very common for them to not allow shots.

It very common to have shots prohibited. This is mostly due to liquor license and insurance.

I've been to several that don't and am always disappointed to be a guest at those lol. It was a must have on our list of questions when we were visiting venues.

Our venue doesn’t allow straight liquor so we are going to have 2 signature drinks then beer and wine!

Every venue I looked at, even where I supply the alcohol, doesn't allow shots or pours of just liquor.
