For our wedding reception, we are having cocktail hour on the terrace 5-6PM and reception in the ballroom to follow. Our dinner/program is abbreviated and should end with cake cutting at around 7:05PM. We plan to have a hosted bar for cocktail hour and dancing. Dinner comes with wine service and I assume guests will be mostly seated during dinner hour, and not getting up for drinks. In that case, does it make sense to skip open bar for dinner hour and have a sign at the bar that says "Open Bar begins 7:30PM"? The cocktail & reception bars are in two different areas. How is it usually done?
