Open back cinched waist

Simone, on December 9, 2018 at 6:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 5
Hi. I have a dilemma, is there any way for me to have that cinched waist when I have an open back dress? I’m not sure if there is anything the seamstress can possibly add to the side of the dress for more structure on my waist. If anyone has ideas please let me know.

I don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, but I tried on this open-back dress (not the one I ended up buying) and it cinched my waist pretty well. I think it just depends on the structure of the dress and how far down the back goes.

It depends how open you want the back to be. My dress has a low v-cut back and a cinched waist. If you want a truly open back that's going to be a bit tricky. Do you have a picture of your dress?

That is a beautiful dress. Unfortunately I don’t have much curves but would like my waist to look like yours. I will link my dress below..it’s pretty open

Hi Simone!! Your dress is gorgeous!! I think this can be done but it's always best to check with a tailor or seamstress to be sure. Although the back is open and low, the waist may be able to be taken in on the sides to create the illusion that it's cinched. A seamstress may be able to add boning to the sides which can also create a bit more structure as well!

Is there an in-house seamstress at the bridal shop you went to, or will you have to find someone on your own?

Thanks so much for your reply! I will have to find a seamstress on my own. I know you don’t typically get the dress altered until 2 months out but I wanted to weigh my options! It’s actually my reception dress. My ceremony dress has a built in corset and the waist is absolutely perfect! I wanted the same effect for the second dress since I will be eating, drinking, and dancing. Smiley smile
