Online Save the Dates

Celia, on July 3, 2018 at 11:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So I'm investigating sending out email/online save the dates to save on postage and printing, but all the websites that I've found that are free have a built in RSVP option for every invitation you send. I don't want this because I think it'll confuse people if they RSVP to the online save the date, and then assume that they don't need to later. Are there any websites that don't have this option, or that you can turn the option off? I need to send them out soon because we have a lot of family that lives far away, and a lot of my friends work in the wedding industry so they need to know as far out as they can which weekend my wedding is.

I’m not really sure and answer to your original question about those websites, but can you make like a digital postcard type of thing in word and just email it out? Also, I know there are digital card websites (my grandma used to be very into those) maybe you can find one of those and email out a digital card?

Also, if you think you want to send mailed ones out for cheap, I would look at vistaprint. That’s where I did my invites and STDs.

Yeah, so what I've been looking at are places like Evite and Paperless Post. They do digital cards that you can email to people, but they all have this RSVP option as part of the card. I think the idea is that you can send out a fancy digital card for like, your birthday party, and have people RSVP. There's just no way to turn the option off. I don't trust people to not be confused. Making something nice in Word or Illustrator might not be a bad idea, though. We plan on making our invitations digitally and then printing them out locally, so it might save us time later when we have to do those.

I used Paperless Post in December for some of my Save the Dates and I don’t believe there was an RSVP option for recipients, and if there was, I removed it. We did include a box for recipients to type in mailing addresses for the invitations, but most people just viewed the card. Were you looking specifically at Save the Dates templates?

Punchbowl allows you to send save the dates without an RSVP option. Im using it for my STD and invites. I will request they RSVP on my wedding website. They have free invites and premium invites for an additional cost. Also, you can upgrade and stop ads from being on the invite page. I’m using that feature (free 30 day trial) when I send invites so they look more formal).

I just made a STD with Publisher. Bonus is that I can just go in and change the text and have the same look already set up for other wedding related things.

Thanks everyone for the help! I think we'll probably end up going with Paperless Post(I didn't realize the reply card could be used to get people's addresses) since neither of us are particularly good at graphic design.
