Online Rsvp?

Ansley, on March 11, 2018 at 6:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16
Anyone else doing an online RSVP? I feel like this is the easiest and most cost efficient way. I was just wondering how you did them for families...when I enter the names online do I put “Jones family” & like 4 members or do I have them enter each member of their family separately?

I'm using Minted and have been testing it out with VIP family members. I have loaded names individually and then grouped them. When you search Jane Doe it also asks about John Doe.

ETA: that was wrong info, I just went to look. I add all the names on the invitation into the portal as one name/group. If you search any of those names it pops up. So if a women searches for her name, her and her husbands name pops up.

You can easily use this website and have a website made for guests to type in their name ( and yes you put Jones family and make sure to add the first and last name of all guests) and their name will come up for them to click rsvp.

Rsvpify is is also a link you can set up for guests to rsvp in but idk if that has. a guest list you need to add all guests too.

In using Minted online rsvp- I would only enter people separately if you send them each on invite! Also maybe have a required question asking then to confirm the names of those attending... I've had several guests enter the wrong number, but I could edit their count by the names they said we're coming- plus it let's me then know the names of any plus 1s for table seating!

I’m using minted also. Only sent out save the dates so far but have had some people already rsvp online. It asks them for the name on the invitation so if I addressed it to Mr and Mrs Joe Schmo if they type Joe, Schmo, or the full thing then it pops up and says is this you “Mr and Mrs Joe Schmo” and potentially other names if they only typed Joe and there are other people invited with the name Joe. Once they select their invitation name then they can choose from a drop down how many people in the family are coming based on a maximum number that I preset. For example mr and Mrs Joe Schmo can select either 1 or 2 people attending but not more. Another family may be able to select 5 if that’s how many people I am inviting from their family. On minted you can also ask questions so I have “please enter the name of each guest desiring chicken, fish, beef, or vegetarian” (each is a separate question with its own box to enter the name(s)). This allows me to know exactly who is attending (in case the full party did not accept) and their meal selection which will be needed for the escort cards. Initially I thought I’d have to send traditional RSVP cards to elderly people but my grandma RSVP’d today so I think people can handle it. If not they can give me a call and I will enter the info myself! Saves on stamps and paper!

Oh and to add: it’s varies depending on which site you use. I think on WW you enter the household and individual names. If you are doing it on a site like minted I would keep it as however you put it on the invitation and not separate them by individuals. That makes it easier for one person to RSVP for everyone!

We used WeddingWire via our wedding website. Worked mostly well, but would work much better if they didn't have to click "continue" and then "submit". Several people thought they RSVPd but it turned out they didn't notice they had to click a final submit button.

I cannot figure out where to look for the custom RSVP so I can know who exactly is attending in the party. Any pointers? This is so annoying that a couple still pops up as 'one'.

We (me, as I'm the more tech savvy one [which isn't saying much]) decided to use Google Docs. Super easy. Plus, it'll export everything into a Google spreadsheet so I have all the info I need/want. I was able to add any questions I wanted to add, which was nice. Only downside to Google Docs (that I've found at least) that you can do for ww and theknot is apply certain events for certain people (ie Smith family invited to rehearsal dinner and wedding, where the Frank family is just invited to the wedding). Oh, and that anyone can RSVP - I'm not too worried about random people RSVP, though.

I’m not quite sure I know what you mean by custom RSVP. After I added guests to my address book and made the event enabled for RSVP on the event page then I went to the guest page and I was able to select to add guests to certain events I was also able to select max party size from a drop down bar so I could change it from 1 to however many I wanted up to 20 I think. To know the specific names I just added it to the questions for guests on the page for each event asking them to enter their name and meal choice. I separated them each into a different question by meal so it will be neater on the spreadsheet that is generated when you click download guests.

I did because my guest list is small. But some of my guest are older and just didn't get it lol. I think sticking to formal invites is still nice and very much expected. I keep my invites from weddings. But it does save you time and money and more convenient

I’m using Joy. I added them all individually but people are typing themselves in as well. Truthfully,, very few people have even seen the website. A friend texted me and didn’t see the website info until after. I basically told people to RSVP however they wanted: the card, phone, text, or website.

With Wedding Wire you can create "Households" and then you put all members of the household underneath.

So If I have "The Smith Family," under that is "Jane Smith, "Joe Smith," "Jeff Smith," and "Janet Smith."

For couples, I have "Jane and Joe Smith," and then "Jane Smith," and "Joe Smith," is listed underneath. I have the settings so that if someone searches their name, they can select and then RSVP for everyone in their household.
