Online RSVP?

Kathryn, on March 19, 2016 at 5:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

I just want some opinions and feelings on not sending out a paper for RSVPs, rather just referring to our wedding website where they can do it online. Does anyone have any problems with this that I might be forgetting? The only hold up to going this route that I can think of is some older family members not being very computer savvy, but luckily, I don't think that'll be an issue with anyone in either of our families.

We don't have any non-computer type guests so we are doing the online RSVP. It will save us some money and I personally think it's easier on the guests. They don't have to mail anything and most are on their computers all day anyway!

We used WW's RSVP tool, and it worked well for us.

We're only doing online RSVPs too so I hope we don't run into problems!

I did this. The only problem I've run into is that the site I used allows guests to say whether or not they're bringing a guest. We sent invites sans plus ones to single friends who would know other people at the wedding, and have already had one of them RSVP with a guest. It's not a big deal for us and we could accommodate each of them to have a plus one if that's what they want, but I could see this being a problem with a larger guest list. I would definitely check your site's settings for how the RSVP works. Also, some people are just telling us they're coming rather that using the site, which is again fine for our small guest list (we invited about 55), but might or might not be manageable for you.

If you do online RSVPs I would still include an RSVP card that has instructions for how to rsvp online. As crazy as it sounds, guests might miss the website information if you print it at the bottom of the invitation rather than on a separate card (that's what happened to me!)

We are not doing separate rsvp cards. We are doing online & telephone rsvp (yes. I know it's a bit of a faux pa but it's all immediate family and very close friends)

At the bottom of the invite ours says

    "Please celebrate with us!

Your reply is requested by June 5th 2016

It's really difficult to miss on my invite.

The back of our Vistaprint invitations has our picture, our wedding website link and says "please RSVP by July 1, 2016." No extra stuff to putchase that way.

We had online only RSVPs. We set it up so that the RSVP form had the specific names of the people we had invited, so there was no way someone could RSVP for anyone not invited. This also prevented anyone from omitting their name on an RSVP card. Only one of our older guests was unable to use the online RSVP form, and he just told us in person.

I too did online RSVP. I also added to Facebook RSVP (did not go public on FB however so only invited will respond) and face to face RSVP which has been the best way so far. Reassuring that everyone is doing the same!

We did online RSVP and for those elderly members, they can call our wedding planner who is also listed for assistance. No calls to me or my fiance

We included a separate RSVP card that says the guest names, number of seats reserved, wedding website address, and date to respond by. We have only a handful of elderly guests who are not computer savvy, and my mom is going to call them after invitations go out.

I have heard good things from other people who used online RSVP, so hopefully we don't have issues with it.

I wish we had done this. People just do NOT return those little cards!

My friend did it and it worked out well for her. I'm doing both online /paper RSVP but I'm telling my guests it's faster online. :-)

I did both and so far I'm getting more by mail than the online RSVPs. I love the online and wish everyone would use it. And it's not only the older folks that are sending by mail

I would love to do this but FHs entire family is living in 1990 haha. My mom suggested RSVP cards for his side and online for mine but I've already ordered the RSVP cards and I think managing both would just be more hassle

The only issue I can think of just as you said are those who aren't as savy with the computer and some older guests. Nowadays you never know though my 85 year old grandad has a facebook and I dont . I think you might be good.

We did this. We included a separate card from the invitation titled, "RSVP", with the requested date of RSVP (which passed a week ago and still haven't heard from >100 peeps) Smiley sad then on the next line had my mom's address for old -school people who don't use the internet to write my mom a note on their own stationary. Finally we had a line called "online reply" with our WW website and password. All but 4 peeps have replied online. I personally like it better than the RSVP card that can be a waste of money if people lose it.
