Online rsvp vs Snail Mail

Tasha, on January 30, 2018 at 2:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16
HI all - I am currently trying to decide if I should send RSVP cards w/ stamped envelopes or if I could just do an online RSVP. What are you doing and why?

We did snail mail. I've never been to a wedding where you rsvp online and I like the tradition of getting rsvps in the mail.

I am doing online because it is cheaper and I want my guests to look at my wedding website that will have details about the wedding & wedding party.

    I did online only.

    -Less postage to pay
-less envelopes (outer inner and rsvp vs just outer) less time to get responses
-less worry about rsvps getting lost in the mail on the way back,
-no worry about people trying to add extras to their guest count,
-no worry about people not putting names or the right meal info on the cards,
-no worry about crappy handwriting that's illegible,
-easy guest count system (the knot notifies you every time someone rsvps and keeps totals at the top of the guest list manager that shows attending and meal choices)

We are doing it online - much easier and more convenient and less wasteful!

I’m doing it online, when you order invitations on Minted you get a free wedding website with the RSVP feature and it’s cheaper and easier than ordering the RSVP cards too. Plus I think for most guests it’s easier to just get on their phone than to fill out the card and mail it back.

I am trying to decide. My concern is that I have a good amount of older people. So I'm not sure how comfortable they will be doing it online.

I'm doing it online. It's way easier to keep track of, and it gets more people to look at the wedding website. If people didn't have to visit my wedding website to RSVP, I'm pretty sure half wouldn't look at it at all

We sent stamped RSVP cards and also offered online RSVP. So far, no one has used the online RSVP and we've gotten several reply cards back.

It's exciting getting them in the mail!

Our RSVP card identifies 3 different ways, which will be good for young and older guests:

    -online (via knot.com website)
    -call/text (either couple)
-email (we created an email address specifically for wedding stuff)

Online for the majority of our guests-then I had 10 regular snail mail RSVP cards printed for older family that doesn't use the internet. Online seemed easier to me and allowed me to invite guests and collect their RSVP to our welcome dinner (destination wedding) at the same time as well as get some requests.

We are sending stamped RSVP cards with our invitations. I just think it adds to the formality of the event. We do have web RSVP enabled on our wedding website, but did not specifically mention that on the cards since we paid for additional cards and postage and hope most people will use them.

We provided both our cell numbers to text or call their RSVP.

We chose to do it that way because a) we didn't want the hassle of paper RSVP (getting lost in the mail etc) and b) we thought it would be a good opportunity to text back everyone who RSVPs with a 'thank you' and 'we're so excited to celebrate with you' - we thought it would make it more personal.

We are doing stamped RSVP postcards because a lot of our guests aren’t great with technology and it’s super simple for them to just check a few boxes and drop it in the mail

I'm going to do an online through the wedding wire website or a call. It will be less expensive, things will not be lost in the mail/RSVPs returned without names, and I'm looking forward to getting phone calls and catching up with people who I might not regularly talk to.
