Online rsvp question

Stephanie, on March 7, 2018 at 1:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 23
For those who have done online RSVPs through your website, can you tell me how well it worked? If you had to do it again, would you?

I was going to use it, but there was no spot for anyone to list dietary restrictions (the Knot; not sure about WW). I knew I had quite a few people with allergies so I went the safe way and only did hard copy RSVPs.

I did online RSVPs through our website on WeddingWire. There were a few people who screwed up by not hitting the “Submit” button, and then a few people I had to track down for RSVPs (although that often happens regardless of the RSVP method). Overall, it did work well.

We had a field on the RSVP part of the website in which guests could send us messages about dietary restrictions and food allergies. It worked quite well.

I did my website through Minted and it's worked out beautifully. I only have like 7 more people to track down, but that's simple and happens whether you do online or not

We did it through our WW website and it worked fairly well. Some people forgot to hit submit, but some people forgot to fill out cards, so I think it all evens out. People were also able to tell us about allergies and dietary restrictions, so that was helpful. I would do it again, although I did miss getting the mail.

So far it’s going well for us. But my guest list consists of 21 households. I think if it was a larger guest list I would do conventional rsvp.

Haven't sent out our invites yet, but we'll be using our Minted website for the RSVP. Seems very easy so far... you can limit the amount of guests and can add as many questions as you like (dietary restrictions & such).

I am not specifically because my grandma told me that the old people would not be able to do it and I had to admit she had a point.

We are doing our website and then listing a phone number for those who do not feel comfortable/ can’t RSVP through the website. Just another option to think about. I have noticed people on here saying their guests haven’t completely submitted on the websites, so I just added a short explanation to avoid that. I also am going to have a contact us section of our website which will have something saying to let us know about allergies (we are already avoiding all nuts, seafood/shellfish, and will have options without dairy, which covers immediate family).

We allowed both options but ended up having to check with everyone directly. The WW website has them click "continue" then refreshes and makes the guest click a final "submit" button before it actually goes through. Several guests clicked "continue" and assumed they were done, so we never received their RSVP. It was very frustrating.

Then again, 3 invitations and RSVPs were lost in the mail, also. We had better results with the old fashioned way vs the online ones, but the younger and/or more tech savvy people preferred having the online option.

I haven’t sent my invitations yet but I did send my save the dates and the RSVP function is already active on my website and had a few proactive people already RSVP’d online! I just plan to include a traditional RSVP card and stamped envelope in the invitations for the elderly people in my family who don’t use computers. This will save me paper and money on stamps. My FH’s grandpa is very tech savvy even though he is old so I’m sure he could respond online. For those that respond via paper I can just add their response online myself so it’s included in the spreadsheet that will be generated (or just add them to the sheet after the fact) with each guest’s name and their meal choice. My website is though minted and it allows you to ask questions so you can ask about meal choices, dietary restrictions, song requests, etc!

We did our wedding website through Zola and they have an RSVP function that rocks! So easy and we've already had 2 RSVP submissions just based on the STD sent! I'm sending everyone an RSVP card with their invite and one side will read their options for RSVPing (website, phone call, mail card back), that way they can choose what's easiest for them. ex. I know my grandma will NEVER RSVP online.

I used the RSVP feature with wedding wire. If I remember correctly you can definitely add meals/dietary restrictions, we had a buffet so we did not do that, but we asked our guests to please let us know via the comment section on their RSVP of any dietary restrictions. Of 125 house holds, we had 2 households tell us they had issues responding with the website. Most of our guests still left cute notes in our comments. Also it made it very clear exactly who was invited, and left no room for add ins. The reporting once our RSVPs came back was easy to use, but I do wish there were better ways to sort the guest lists. I would absolutely do it again, if saved us money on invitations and stamps, and was less we had to keep track of during the planning process.

Kim did you provide the envelope for those that wanted to rsvp via mail?

I have not sent mine out yet.. will do this week and I plan on using The Knot's. Most of my guests are pretty tech savvy. I gained a lot of addresses through their contact form. I am sending a stamped/self addressed return envelopes to the elderly and those who are not online.

I haven't sent out yet, but I plan on doing online and I did add my phone number too. I'm going through the knot and they have a "note to the couple" section when you rsvp so I just made a note for people to please indicate any allergies/dietary restrictions there.

We did ours via email--set up a wedding gmail account and asked people to reply with their dietary restrictions. we checked in with the couple of relatives who weren't online and made sure we had their info. we had no issues with this.

I plan to use WW since my website is through them however i used RSVPify for another event and it was very helpful. Its an app so i could get the email and app alert as soon as they responded. They had multiple options of questions including food options and you could enter custom questions. Only caveat is the app is free for first 100 people after that its a small fee. Also my grandma who doesn't have internet access just asked my mom to submit hers. So i had no issue with people not being able to RSVP.

We used minted, and it does allow for questions, so if you have to ask your guests a question such as menu options that is available. And it has seemed pretty easy! Some people i have had to chase down for RSVPs but i feel with them that was likely to happen regardless of how we collected them. lol
