Online Invitations

Ross , on June 11, 2018 at 8:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
So we decided to do save the date & invitations online.
We asked everyone for their emails and we will send everything online so they can RSVP online.
May the end of the day every save the date and invitation is going to the trash (that’s how we felt)

what do you girls think ? Is it too trashy??

I would be lost if people sent me invitations in an email to things. I get hundreds of emails a day and unless you mark it at high importance I most likely won't see it right away. When I have a physical invitation it gets stuck to the fridge until after the wedding. If I have to look through my email to get the information when it comes closer to the wedding date I will be screwed and be calling people in order to get an address I can put into my phone. (This is all assuming the email won't be marked as spam in which case the vast majority of people will never see it.)

I would reconsider the invitations being in email.

If I got an emailed invitation, I probably wouldn't ever see it. Digital save the dates would be fine as they aren't necessary, or you could honestly just skip them all together. I would be worried about the formal invitations.

I would be worried they would end up in the spam mail. I never read mine and just bulk delete. What will you do if people never see them? That could be a ton to have to follow up on. STD I wouldn't be too concerned about but actual invites i would mail.

I think email STD are totally fine (or you can totally skip them!); however, I wouldn't do online wedding invitations. It just doesn't state that it's an important occasion and like others said could end up in spam mail. Depending on the crowd you're inviting, people may be off-put by this before they even attend the wedding. That doesn't mean you have to spend tons of money though! There's DIY, and there are usually lots of sales. My H and I got "seal and send" invites to keep things simple and had our guests RSVP online or via email. We purchased during labor day sale which saved us a bunch of money.

    ETA: ours were from Invitationsbydawn.com

My fiancé and I usually end up throwing away regular mail (or we put it in the recycling actually) without really looking at it. I hate mail and how it causes so much paper waste. I care about the environment. So I’m also struggling with wanting to send out invitations in the actual mail. I check my email on a regular basis, but I agree that a concern with emailed invites is that people won’t receive them. There is just no simple solution to this, unfortunately. My fiancé brought up a good point last night though...are people going to still be mailing out invitations 10 years from now? I hope not. It’s such a waste of paper and we all really need to start going paperless for our environment.

It depends on your guests more than anything. My father's side is very traditional and has a lot of older family members, so this would NOT work for us nor would they take our wedding seriously. But if your guests are younger and more relaxed, it's totally fine!
