Online Dress Shopping

Sara, on September 29, 2023 at 1:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 2
I am interested in buying a pre-loved wedding dress from a site like Still White, but I want to know how the dress will look before buying. Obviously you can’t try on the dresses when buying online, and most sellers on Still White only accept returns if the dress is damaged.

How have others who purchased a dress online dealt with this issue? I thought about going to a brick-and-mortar shop to try on dresses, and then see if I can find the ones I like online. However, it feels a bit unethical.

True. It is rude to try things on at a local store when you plan on buying online. Maybe you can arrange a compromise or maybe that type of store you have in mind is one that sells dresses that are no longer the current fashion. They may give a price that you are happy with.

Also, with a local store, you could be honest and say the dress is available at the price you found it at. Maybe the store will work with you on a bit lower price.

There are plenty of used/consignment wedding shops. There are also sample sales at most stores, just call and ask.

But I don't think there is anything wrong with trying on dresses to see what you like, even if you plan to buy it somewhere else. You can even be upfront and say "Today we are just trying some things on, we don't plan to say yes to anything today". I knew I was getting my dress custom made, but still went into stores to try on different styles and fits to see exactly what I wanted and to have photos for reference.
