One week away rant

Hey all! I know everything will work itself out but I need to let it all out!
To start, one of our groomsmen is expecting his third baby. His wife isn’t due until August 22, but she’s currently 50% effaced an 1 centimeter dilated. She had two contractions last night an hour apart. He is supposed to be coming down Tuesday with his two daughters (flower girls!) and going back after the Thursday wedding. If the baby is born by this weekend, he said he will still come (his wife would stay with her parents who live close by). If the baby is born Monday or Tuesday, they won’t be coming. If no baby is here by Tuesday, all four of them plan on coming! I personally wouldn’t want to travel that close, but it’s their call. Also, just to be clear, we 100% understand wanting/needing to be there for the birth, just a little stressful right before! Plus, this is my FH’s brother so he really wants him there.

Secondly, I called our caterer today to call in and pay the order and THE RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED. No one knew why, including the customer service person. Our wedding is in ONE WEEK!! We are coming up with backup plans. Wish us luck!

Oh no! I would be freaking out about the caterer.

Sounds like a bit of stress right now but try to breathe. Make some back up plans and keep calling the caterer each day. I hope things work out for you.

It may be cool to get to Skype and see for the first time your little niece or nephew in your wedding. Sorry about. Your caterer.

Yay for a new niece/nephew. While completely understandable, the uncertainty would drive me crazy!
Is this restaurant a chain? Maybe power outage for the day? Maybe you can go in person tomorrow.

Thank you! I am going to call around a few different places tomorrow to see prices. I also lucked out by working at the sister store of our caterer so I am going to try talking to my old boss to see if he can help as well.

That would be a super cool idea, but our venue has no wifi that we could use so reception would be really spotty. However, we will definitely video chat with our new niece the morning after the wedding if she has been born!

Hahah definitely! FH's brother called and it sounded like bad news so we kept having to reassure him that we definitely understood his wife possibly giving birth a few weeks early! Though a wedding is a once in a lifetime event, so is the birth of a child.

It's not a chain, but I did work with the owner's cousin or brother at his own version of the restaurant. I will try calling various places tomorrow and if that fails, I may talk to my old boss to see if he can help us out at all.

Oh my gosh, I’m sending you all the good vibes for things to work out with your caterer!! Hopefully there’s a simple explanation but good for you for looking for backup options. Do they have websites or social media you could check to see if they posted anything about it?
