Hi there,

I'm planning a winter wedding that takes place in one large room. After the ceremony, chairs will be rearranged and tables brought in.
My question is, where do the guests go while the room is switched over? Should i have a small cocktail space in one area where they can mingle out of the way, while my groom and i do photos? Are there any other options that in not thinking of?
I just can't picture how everything will flow elegantly from the ceremony to the reception

All of the venues that we toured that the ceremony and reception were going to be in the same space had a separate room for cocktail hour. Does the venue you using have another room you could use while the room is being flipped? I think having the guests, photos, and the room flipped all going on in one space sounds like too much in my opinion.

Can you ask the venue what they typically do? They should be pretty experienced with this.

Ask the venue if they’ve had weddings similar to your situation and what they did! They should have plenty of options!

We attended a wedding where they had the cocktail hour outside so that the staff could flip the room and it worked out just fine! Everyone stood and mingled while they flipped it.

Our situation is similar, and the venue is very experienced with flipping the room while guests are mingling at the other end of the room. Talk to them to ease your mind!

I have a venue with the same set-up and I am also getting married next winter. My venue has a large outdoor patio with tall table tops and then the inside a small cocktail bar area that everyone will be hanging out having drinks and apps while the crew sets up the main room.
