One Gift for Shower and Wedding Thank You Note

Katie, on September 25, 2021 at 2:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

I have no idea what the etiquette is for this. If a wedding guest sent a gift for the shower but not the wedding, do you still send out a second Thank You note? Do you just use the same style as you would for guests who did not send a gift? What's the etiquette?

You don't have to send a thank you note if they did not send a gift, there is nothing to thank them for.

Why would a second thank you be necessary? What are you thanking them for?

We have sent thank you notes as we received gifts and are going to send thank you notes to all guests after our wedding (regardless if no gift, previous gift, gift at wedding, etc.) thanking them for attending and celebrating with us! Of course those who gifted at the wedding, we’ll mention that in the card too. You could do something like that!

Generally, it's polite to thank people for attending.

The reception is your thank you for attending.
