One Bridesmaid

Kari, on March 6, 2020 at 11:09 AM Posted in Planning 1 8

I'm only having one bridesmaid (my best friend will be my MOH), and I'm wondering if there are any things bridesmaids usually do at the wedding itself where it might be helpful to have more than one person assisting me. My dress has a long train and I am planning to wear a fingertip veil for the ceremony itself and some photos, then ditch for the reception. Right now the only thing I can think of is that I might need more than one person to help splay out my train for photos and when I walk down the aisle. My MOH can hold my bouquet when we exchange rings. The bustle is pretty simple and I think can be managed by one person. Are there other things where having more than one helper is needed?

I have plenty of friends that will offer assistance with extra things if I need, just trying to plan ahead so I can ask people early if I need help.

The bridesmaids really don’t have any responsibilities the day of the wedding except to support you emotionally. I had a chapel length train and veil and it only took one person to adjust them, so I wouldn’t worry about that.

I think that’s it. For me I had to have them help set up but I could have asked them without them being bridesmaids and they would have been willing to help.

I would just do the one bridesmaid like you’re saying, I wouldn’t add another just to have assistance. Your one should be able to handle it all 😊

You've covered all there is, at least all I can think of. It only took one person to fix my train/veil and button my bustle. You should be just fine!

I wasn't considering adding any more, just wondering if there were things that bridesmaids usually helped with that might require more than two hands, where I'd just ask a friend to pitch in for that one thing (like asking one of the groomsmen's wives to help with my train if needed).

Great thanks! I was pretty sure my MOH would be able to do the train on her own, but wasn't sure if two people did a better job (kinda like putting sheets on a bed, I can do it on my own but it's easier/faster when my FH helps).

Nah you are good because for my friends wedding years ago the MOH helped her with her dress and her veil during the ceremony. I have only a MOH and I will go to her and need help.
