Two of my best friends are getting married this Saturday, the groom and I have been friends for 12 years and the bride and I became fast friends as soon as they started dating. Last year they asked me to be a bridesmaid, despite the fact that my ex who emotionally abused, cheated and manipulated me for 8 years is also a groomsman; I told them that I would be happy to be a bridesmaid, as long as I wasn't walking with HIM and they agreed.

Fast forward a little and our group of friends were out at a bar (Minus Ex and another GM that work together out of town) and we were all joking about how flaky those 2 are and that they should have 2 back up groomsmen just in case. In private I told my FH that I seriously figured that they would somehow not show...

I may have been right, I just received a text from the bride that they are now saying that they need the groom to pay off their tuxes, and that they aren't able to get off work Friday and won't be flying in until Saturday morning; so they're missing the rehearsal and may not show up in time for the pictures before the wedding. I feel so BAD for the groom, the bride told me that he's super hurt that 2 of his oldest friends would pull this on him and that he's tempted to just tell them to not even come...

She said that the other GM got defensive and started saying that they didn't get any details and didn't know what they were supposed to be doing (which is BS because we all invites to even the rehearsal dinner and we're told what we needed to do dress/tux wise). Groom is literally about to sever a lifetime friendship over the stupidity of those 2...

That's awful. Honestly, these two don't sound like very good friends, especially your ex seeing how awful he was to you. People grow up and grow apart. These may be two friendships that should be severed. What a sucky time to have to do it though.

Ugh, people! Sorry you're caught up in this mess. Not much you can do, but be there to support the bride and groom (unlike some people) Smiley smile

Right, she said she's trying to calm him down so he doesn't damage a friendship and I just asked "But is it really worth saving?"
