Olive Oil and Aspirin

Panda Bride, on November 7, 2010 at 11:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I have been doing lots of research on at home remedies for acne, and the 2 I have found to be most helpful are olive oil as make up remover/moisturizer, and aspirin/honey masks. i have done the aspirin mask twice and the olive oil thing once. so far so good. does anyone else use these remedies? or have other suggestions?

Plain white toothpaste. Non-whitening formula. Shrinks/ drys up pimples. I also use as hot as I can stand washcloths on those painful underground pimples. I'm dying for solutions right now, my hormones have been going nuts with the pregnancy, and it looks like a warzone on my face. I can't use salicylic or benzoyl per the doctor Smiley sad.

Be careful with the toothpaste. It can burn your skin, happened to my cousin. Olive oil is like a cure all, great for hair and skin so I can see that working.

Ummmmmm i feel like a bad esthetician that i have never heard of this with the olive oil. no benz or salacylic huh... clay maske ! go to wal mart and get the cheapie queel helene one. you can use it as a mask all over or as a spot treatment. uh-mazing ! anything with kaolin and bentonite will help. i use huggies cucumber and aloe baby wipes to remove my make up at night, when i remember... oops, and i dont have problems. it doesnt leave a residu on your face and feels good. what are you using for cleanser and what do you usually use as a moisturizer?

I was using baking soda as a cleanser and apple cider vinegar as a toner for months and months and it completely cleared up my skin. Then about two months ago, my hormonal acne flared up one month and has not gone away since! I know what you mean. I also tried the garlic treatment, which is to consume a raw clove of garlic once or twice a day (by chopping it up and swallowing it like pills with water), and some other people suggested actually rubbing the raw garlic on your face after cutting it up. I wouldn't recommend the rubbing thing, it burns your skin and I didn't see any improvement after doing it for almost a week. Eating raw garlic is healthy in general, so I don't think it could hurt, but it wasn't helping in the week that I did it (I'm really impatient!). I would give the apple cider vinegar a try, it definitely helped me, I'm not sure what happened two months ago, but I'm keeping up with it and it's slowly, slooooowly fading again.

From my experience Trenatoin (sp.?) (prescription) works like magic, for acne and it makes skin super clear, Seriously can't count how many people complimented my skin, but the Dr warned that it should not be used byTTC or pregnant women. Also Clindamycin phosphate (prescription) works well for acne.

Witch Hazel is a great cleanser!! My poor five yr old gets this zit under her nose and I refuse to put anything harsh on her skin so I put black sab ointment on it to draw everything out then I'll cleanse that off with Witch Hazel.

Rose water works wonders it evens out the tone of your skin, removes blemishes, even old ones and get rid of acne. If I have a pimple I would rub it on my face at night, or after a shower, and the pimple is gone the next day, or the following day. Love that stuff and it smells good to boot. Burts Bees make a great one. It's not sold in store you have to order it from the Burts Bees website. The bottle is a nice size and it last a long time.
