Olive Garden for catering

TheHamWhites, on August 28, 2017 at 7:15 PM Posted in Planning 2 35

Who has used Olive Garden for catering their wedding? Just looking for input. We have decided to change caterers as ours isn't returning phone calls or messages with questions we have. So we are starting all over looking for caterers and someone mentioned them.

Thanks!

My friend used Old spaghetti factory and liked them. A couple pastas, salad, bread. That may be something similar.

I do love me some Olive Garden, but I don't know if I would consider them fancy, or by any means authentic, Italian food.

Love Olive Garden breadsticks! Although in my area, an Italian restaurant would be a little cheaper than the Olive Garden catering. Definitely price it out though, as long as your guests are fed you are good =)

Honestly, I'd call a few more independent caterers before you do OG...

Not the worst, but maybe check some local authentic Italian caterers first :-)

I would totally do it, if it were in my budget.

I will tell you the upscale Italian restaurant in my town was able to beat OG's pricing. When people think of OG, they think mid-scale and may not realize how expensive they are for catering. My MOH was surprised how affordable my dinner will be compared to how much they charge normally per plate. Might as well price a few places around town.

I'd highly suggest looking into local restaurants before OG. I had looked into their pricing and got a significantly better deal by sitting down with a local restaurant.

OG is just microwaved food. Salad and breadsticks are awesome though. I'd try some locally owned places before deciding on OG.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if I went to a wedding with Olive Garden! I say, do it!

I believe a somewhat recent BAM mentioned having Olive Garden as their caterer and it worked out well. I may be misremembering though. You could search the forums to see if anyone has done it before. I agree with PP that if you're doing this for money purposes, looking into local restaurants will likely be cheaper (and probably better customer service than a large chain restaurant).

I agree with Celia, I would check some independently owned italian restaurants first (always better to get several quotes anyway) but honestly, if I were a guest at a wedding that had food from Olive Garden I would not be mad about it. It's not the most high-end but sometimes that's actually better in terms of pleasing everyone. And yeah, breadsticks! Smiley smile

I would definitely look into other places as PP have suggested. Olive Garden is where my friends and I used to go to a slightly more upscale dinner than ramen throughout college, it doesn't seem to be up to the wedding standard.

Problem is, the caterer we had that wasn't responding WAS an authentic Italian restaurant. Still hasn't replied as of today. I've sent emails, texts, and voicemails for 2 weeks now. OG is really the only other Italian place around here (Rockford, il) that people are familiar with.

They at least responded to my email about an inquiry.

Do any of these surrounding places cater?

I think OG would be so much more expensive to cater than a local place. If your wedding is smaller than it might be an easier decision.

Hey, I'd be happy with it as a guest!

I've also had some really, really bad wedding food. I would've begged for some OG at those weddings!

Lino's is fantastic Italian. My sister had her reception there and everyone loved it. Super reasonable prices. Capri? Altamore? Sam's? There are lots of Italian options in Rockford besides Olive Garden. Not saying it's a bad idea, just saying try google...
