Oh dear... Funny Story

Megan, on July 30, 2020 at 12:59 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 8
So my Dad is a potter and has tons of pottery he has wanted to sell. No problem there.
My Dad has gotten very interested in helping with the wedding. Yay! So I gave him projects to work on as DIY construction. Later I started getting messages from him about some ideas for the wedding (Again he is super excited and happy to help). Sigh. This was his idea.
He thought of us have some of his pottery and having his pottery friends bring their pottery to the wedding and people could (I guess) bid on it or buy it. The money would go back to us for our Honeymoon or towards the wedding or a house. Ummm. 😦😵!!! He even thought that the wedding party could have these Japanese tea cups and pots (they were cute) as “gifts for free”. Super sweet, but it wasn’t something that quite made sense to me when I know some of my girls with have little space or no space. It would later be given awAy, without the appreciation that I believe my Dad would have had. He also thought that we could have Japanese pot decorations and use his work as decorations.I don’t think rustic and industrial fits in as well with that. 😬😶
I told him thank you for all your ideas and I’ll consider them but as of now we have some pretty set ideas on how most of or decorations are. 😬🤯😢

I love the idea of the tea pot and cups. But I don't think a wedding is the place to sell yhem since many people don't carry cash these days or open their wallets at a party. It is a sweet gesture for him to want to make the gifts though.

Oh! Ok! Maybe I will consider the tea cups for the ladies for a thank you. I’m glad you said that.
It was a very sweet gesture of him to research all that. He just doesn’t go to weddings. Except his own.

It really was. He was even so sweet to offer to plant and grow flowers for us to use for the wedding. 😢☺️👨🏻‍🌾 Too sweet.

He's so sweet.... Perhaps a little "off-base," but still really sweet! Smiley heart (Maybe he could make something from clay that you could use as place or escort cards?)

Maybe you can use some of his pieces to decorate for your rehearsal dinner or bridal shower. Or make you a ring bowl for your wedding rings after you are married!

I think you could even use the tea pots in or with a center piece or gift table. But selling -no. Maybe he could figure out pace cards with his pottery or some sort of small “favor”.
