Officiant

Brianna, on November 26, 2019 at 11:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hey guys, does the officiant for my wedding have to be licensed in the state or just licensed in general? I have an uncle who can officiate however he does not live in the same state.

This depends on the state you live in so I would check with the clerk’s office for their requirements.

Might depend on state but Florida is by state.

My uncle luckily lived in NY, where my wedding is going to be so if it’s by state I’m covered! Phew!

Check with the state. It’s a google search. I learned that in PA friends can’t just get licensed to officiate. They have to be an ordained minister. So, other states may have other laws.

I'm pretty sure it's by state, but it's best to call your clerk's office to be sure. Some states are extremely strict about how can and can't perform weddings.

Aside from the State, some cities even have their own special officiant rules, like NYC where I live.
