Officiant

Alicia, on June 20, 2019 at 11:06 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9
Hi guys I’m struggling. My fiancée and I have been together for 12 years and have a 9 year old. We want our ceremony to be short and sweet and to the point. No wedding party except a flower girl and our daughter standing with us. We still want to say vows but that’s about it. Recommendations on an officiant that isn’t $400??

Are any of your friends ordained? It's not too difficult or expensive to get legally ordained to marry people. Our friend is officiating our wedding.

I would check out Thumbtack or, if it's legal in your state, have a friend or family member get ordained.

It’s about $50, depending on the state you live, to get ordained online. We’re havjng a family member get ordained to perform the ceremony for us.

Contact your local court house for retired judges or mayors. They should have a list available (at least mine does). They can perform weddings and a lot of them work off of donations or are definitely cheaper than a typical officiant.

Have a friend do the online course to be ordained....that’s what we did and it was way more personal because she knew us. Good luck!

A lot of people have their close friend or family member officiate and get ordained online.

I have seen that but I was nervous that it wasn’t “legal legal”! Did your friend have to do it within a certain amount of time to receive a certificate??

The Justice of the Peace married my husband & I & he came to our house! I asked him what the fee was & he said they are not allowed to charge. I was shocked. We gave him $50 for doing it. He was there maybe 15 minutes at the most.

He's been ordained for years. I know he has to keep it updated, but I don't know the certification requirements. We're Pagan and he became ordained because there is nobody around here willing to perform legally binding hand-fastings or Pagan ceremonies.
