Hi everyone! What are the customs for a officiant script? We have our uncle officiating our ceremony. Do we provide him with a script or does he create one? We are also doing a hand fasting ceremony as well so I was thinking of writing that portion. What are your thoughts?

My husband officiated a wedding between two of his best friends and he wrote the script himself, but he used our wedding script as guidance since our officiant sent our wedding script to us for approval. I would talk to your uncle and see if he wants to do.

Organize a lunch or coffee with the three of you to share your vision, and ask if he needs any support in order to see it through. It's best when you have specifics in mind to speak up, otherwise they might get overlooked.

My officiant was a friend, and he used American Marriage Ministries (theamm.org) . The website has several different wedding scripts and vows that you can access once you go to the "Learn" tab, and click, "Ceremony Script Library".

It doesn't hurt to look at wedding ceremonies on Youtube, and seeing what you like, and don't like about particular ceremonies.
