Officiant script - where to start

Joanna, on November 18, 2019 at 5:40 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2

My brother is officiating our wedding (he is getting ordained just for my wedding) and I'm not sure where to start with the ceremony script! My family is religious, and so is my fiance's family, and I want the script to be special and somewhat religious. I did a search on google, but wasn't thrilled with some of the scripts that I saw, and I looked on pinterest and those scripts were okay. What have ya'll done? Any ideas on where to start? Do the bride and groom typically sit down with their officiant and write the script together?

    Hey Joanna!

You can definitely all sit down together to write your ceremony script. That way you can ensure that the parts that are super important to you are incorporated and prominent in your ceremony.

Since you want to incorporate a religious aspect, i would start with picking out the parts of a religious ceremony that you want to include. This will help you create a general timeline for your ceremony. You can then include anything you have loved from the scripts you found online. This will give you the freedom to change any wording so that it feels natural to your brother with he is saying it

When I first started doing weddings I took bits and pieces from different scripts and added my own words for each couple. I don't think any one script is going to be perfect because it was written for someone else, so make it your own.
