Officiant necessary at rehearsal?

Makenzie, on March 5, 2022 at 5:28 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
I am getting married an hour away. We have a wedding coordinator who will be running the rehearsal. Is it necessary for our officiant to make an extra trip an hour and back to be at the rehearsal?
Ps we are also getting married on a holiday so there is extra commitment in all of this.

I wouldn't think so, but check with your officiant, they require it especially if its their last chance to speak with both of y'all before the ceremony. But if it's your choice I wouldn't, your coordinator should be able to handle all of that.

I would definitely check with your officiant. Ours wanted to be there. Between him & the coordinator, they came up with the flow of the ceremony.

Is it a religious/cultural ceremony? If so, the officiant knows the layout so they can walk you through the rehearsal, which is the entire point of practicing. The only time it makes sense to skip the officiant at the rehearsal is if you are having a very cut and dry 5 minute ceremony including vows.

I think you should invite them and give them the option.
