Officiant from Different State

FutureMrsWade!!, on August 2, 2015 at 11:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

I am planning on getting married in OK and we were going to have my stepfather perform the ceremony. We r planning on paying for him to be ordained, but he lives in TX. Just wondering if he has to get ordained in both states or what lol. Found some stuff online but my fiancé and I were both really confused lol. Any help is appreciated!!

My officiant was ordained in New Hampshire but performed my wedding in Maine and we had no issues!

Strangely, the answer is exactly the same as the last time you asked this identical question: you have to check with the county you're getting married in.

If he is getting ordained online, you REALLY need to check with the county where you'll be getting married. Not every state/county/city recognizes the online ordinations.

I am authorized by the State of Florida to officiate weddings, but only within the state. In another state, I could officiate vow renewals or co-officiate a wedding beside someone who is authorized in that state.

You need to check with your county or state. In NYC, for example, officiants have to register with the NYC clerk; in NY state, no. Some states have specific requirements (like a congregation in the state). Not every state accepts online ordination.

You need information from the source, and in that case your source is your issuing office.
