How much did you all pay for an officiant? FH and I are not religious. We are looking for a secular officiant, but it's harder than we thought it would be. We originally had a family friend that was going to officiant for us, but sadly he passed away a few months ago. Since then, it's been hard to find anyone we like. I know we still have time, but vendors book well over a year out in our area (Seattle).

We are meeting with a vendor off Wedding Wire next week. She sent me a quote in advance, and whew was I shocked at the price! It's almost $1k! She has great reviews, and I think we'll like her, but I didn't budget for this much of an expense.

Does this seem reasonable? Granted, Seattle prices are higher than average. For all of you city folk, what did you pay for your officiant?

    Buffalo, NY and we are paying $250. Non denominational, quick ceremony. Came recommended from several co workers and found her on wedding wire with over 100 5 star reviews. look on wedding wire!

    I'm in Texas, so things are more reasonably priced, but we paid $350, includes rehearsal. He is a Christian Pastor, but was very understanding when we told him we didn't want a religious ceremony, more spiritual and based on the power of love and friendship vs God. He was SUPER understanding and amazing and said it was about us not him. If you openly talk to them about what you are wanting it shouldn't be an issue.

    We are having our own officiant and it would have been part of the ‘wedding package’ we paid for at the resort we’re holding the reception and ceremony at. Since we are providing our own, they deducted $250 off our price. $1K seems insane to me, but maybe it’s different in bigger cities.
