How much did you all pay for an officiant. Is it just me being frugal or are they expensive?!

She’s also my aunt, so she’s included in all of it. I’m not sure about what other couples have done. I know that most did give a donation to the church as a thank you, but they gave what they chose.

Officiants are definitely undervalued. Without them, the marriage wouldn’t be legal. It’s also important for a ceremony to be special and beautiful. A lot of work goes into officiating. She starts working on what she will say months in advance. She has already started ours, and our wedding isn’t until October.

Okay, the services that I wanted weren't personalized. Just wanted a signature on the legal paperwork. That sounds special that it was your aunt 💓

Find out the cost a judge at the local courthouse or find out if someone can legally be ordained in your state through the marriage license office and get a price quote for that but it will be up to you to make sure the person files everything correctly and on time to be valid. Even the most basic services are not going to be cheap.

If you are in a high cost of living area, expect that to be at least double or more.

Yeah, they’re the most important because without the officiant it’s just another party.

I get you point. Noted 👍👍👍👍👍👍
You could have easily answered my initial question with a "yes, you're frugal," which eould have sufficed.

I actually don’t know anything about your overall spending habits since the topic was solely about one area... officiants. However, my replies were directly to the posters who commented to me. But I see how that may have been confusing to you. So thanks and happy planning!!!

I’ve seen a wide range of prices and I was shocked at first, but they are very important to the wedding day! We are actually having my future father-in-law marry us! It cost $25 to get the license online. Laws for wedding officiants vary by state I think? So definitely look into that before going this route, but it was the best choice for us!
