Jenny, on May 9, 2020 at 12:08 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 25
Hey y’all, before this virus my fiancé and I were planning going to Bali for our honeymoon this October! Now I don’t feel comfortable going to a third world country or any places in the US. Ughh. What should we do!!?
Whose still taking a honeymoon and where to?

Indonesia is still locking down their airports. As of for October, I am not sure about the covid situation. If I were you, I would travel where I would be in a good hand IF I or DH gets covid (knocking on the wood).

I and DH was born there, and my whole family is there. I and DH are travelers. This year we dropped visiting 3rd world countries, in fear of medical facilities.

If you haven’t booked anything, my suggestion is to wait and see how this situation is developing.
    🥂

Indonesia is not a third world country.

I booked a vacation to Dominican Republic for the end of October. The resorts are opening on July 1st. We have no plans of canceling unless they stop travel again.

Sorry, yes no longer since 21st. My mistake. I moved away to Germany at age 15. However, I don’t recommend to visit mainly because of the health care. That’s just my 2 cents.

We were going to have our honeymoon in Greece mid-September, but we've decided to do a camping trip for a mini moon now, and go to Greece for our first anniversary. If our wedding has to be postponed (9/6) we'll just go on the trip anyway since we already took the days off. It just seemed so stressful to continue planning it and we don't want to throw money down the drain.

I would not be planning any extensive travel right now. If you have trips already booked, I'd look into cancelation and refund policies and hold tight for now unless you are sure you don't want to go. Can you mini-moon somewhere closer to where you live?

I'm not up to date on everything. But I'm under the impression international travel is limited right now? I wouldnt plan an international trip right now.

That's just me. Wait til it gets closer if you can. Or plan a delayed honeymoon.

I wouldn’t travel anywhere remote for a while. I have a feeling flight schedules will be reduced for a while, limiting options of entering or leaving a place. Depending on the situation you could do a local mini moon and plan for a delayed honeymoon or anniversary trip.

We decided to not take our honeymoon until next year just because of the virus.

We canceled our October honeymoon to Tahiti and will try to do a mini moon next year (maybe summer?) when it’s safer to do so. And hopefully do a “normal” honeymoon abroad once there’s a vaccine available. Hopefully there are some nice local places where you live and can do something special together. Destinations will still be there once it’s safer to venture out 😊 best of luck to you!

Our honeymoon is in August and we are going to Greece!! While we are taking precautions, we are not at all worried. If your looking at October I think you have plenty of time!
Things with Covid are constantly changing! 🙂

Ended up canceling mine and they gave so much trouble that I had to dispute with my credit card. Just make sure if you do decide to travel that your workplace may require you to quarantine when you get back for 14 days before returning to work

I'd either try to plan a lockdown-proof honeymoon (renting a private space or perhaps using a mobile home), or just postpone and do an anniversary honeymoon at a later date.

DH and I are starting to use Disney as a guide. If they aren't opening up, we aren't traveling!

We are getting married in October as well and we were planning on going to Japan for our honeymoon! Now because of the virus we are going to take a weekend somewhere local and then reschedule our trip to Japan for hopefully 2021🤷🏻‍♀️

I think the question might be, if in the event there’s another major spread and we have round two of Covid, would you feel comfortable getting help and an Indonesian hospital. If yes then go for it.
