October 2021 Bride. Haven't sent out save the Dates!!! Help!

azylovespeaches, on June 16, 2021 at 5:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

We have been going through a lot these last few months (just life curveballs not relationship issues lol) so I completely forgot about save-the-dates! We are trying to save money in anyway we can. What are the cheapest and easiest options for save-the-dates? Would electronic save-the-dates be tacky? Would a Facebook group be tacky? We are getting our invites on Zazzle and found some for under $80. We are only inviting 65 guests total. Please shine on your wisdom lol TYIA!

We are getting married in October and sent our save the dates months ago. Since you are so close to having to send our initiations, I would skip them. We are sending our invitations in about 3/4 weeks since our venue requires a final head count 30 days out. If you can wait to send your invitations for a few more weeks, then maybe electronically. I wouldn't waste the money on a physical card this close to the date.

I had read 4 months ahead (Save-the-Dates) for local affairs and invites 6 weeks before the date. I guess I was told wrong lol

Save the dates typically go out 6 months before if local and a year if destination. Invites yeah 6-8 weeks before the wedding and then want your RSVPS due like 2-3 weeks before your wedding. They aren’t necessary, you don’t need to do anything - if you want to electronic yes - don’t make a Facebook group

I’d skip them at this point. Just spread the word verbally or send out the invites on the earlier side.

I’m getting married in October and we sent out the save the dates in January and are sending out invites in mid July.

We’re October 30th and mailed our save the dates at the beginning of this month (5-months out). But in May, we made a total 180° change with the wedding plans (changed states and remaining local now). So we definitely wanted to send save the dates so that our guests didn’t make incorrect travel plans. But, I prefer tangible save the dates over electronic. I feel it’s less likely to get lost/deleted.

I'm getting married in October 2021 as well and I just ordered my save the dates on Zazzle - this website always has discounts codes! The save the dates just arrived so I plan to mail them out by next week which I think it's enough notice for my guests to start making plans. Since we postposted our wedding from last year, many friends & family have been asking if we are still having a wedding. I was hoping to just do the word of mouth and informed them to check out my wedding website but this didnt work. I think some people especially the older generation rely on paper vs online or word of mouth. Most people keep it on their fridge as a reminder.

Personally, I would skip them at this point. BUT, if you really want to send them I am going to being using walgreens. They have same day pick up, decent quality, and they ALWAYS have discount codes. I used them for our christmas cards also. I think with the code I could get 100 for like $85.

At this point don't bother to send out save the dates, your wedding is only 4 months away so it would be a waste. Just wait for the invitations

I would probably just skip them. I sent mine out in February I believe. You have to send invites out in a couple months anyways. If you still want to do them. I went on Walmart website and actually found a couple cute ones and it was like $30 for 180. If you can get them out quickly and u are really wanting to do them I'd say go for it.

Agree with most of the other posters. Just skip them. For those that you think might have conflicts you can send them an electronic one or just call them up. We were set to marry in March 2020 and we all know what happened so we thought maybe we would wait until March 2022 but then recently decided we wanted to get married this year. Our vendors are all available so we are going with it. Needless to say we are too late for save the dates so we just called up our most important guests to let them know and the others will just get an invite in July Smiley smile

Our friends are getting married in October too and are just skipping the save the dates. They'll be sending invites out a little earlier though since they're doing that so guests have a little more time to plan.
