Wondering what others are thinking about the chances of an outdoor wedding and reception happening in California for 100 guests on October 17th? Wedding is rescheduled from June 6th date.

I think maybe by then things would be ok? I live in SoCal and things have started opening back up such as churches can have 100 people right now. So I don’t know, I feel like by then things could be ok

I live in SoCal and I think you’ll be fine by October, especially since you’re having the wedding outside. We’re in October too. But the wedding is in Las Vegas, all indoors and 65 percent. So unfortunately FH and I have a whole different set of factors to weigh out on whether to move forward or not. But lucky you, because I think you’ll be fine!

It's so hard to say. I think the best way to figure that out is to look at your local data, and the data where your guests are from.

October is still 4 months away, and we just don't know how opening up is going to go.

That said, outdoor is more in your favor, especially if you have room to space people out.

Well, last week California began phase 3 and opened up to allowing 100 people outdoors for religious services/cultural ceremonies. Weddings are considered in phase 3 and are cultural ceremonies. (However, some counties are much stricter on what they are allowing to reopen.) We will get deeper into phase 3 on June 12th with the reopening of bars and gyms. Disneyland is projected to open mid-July, so I'd say your chances are pretty good for October.

Also a So Cal bride. Since we’re heading into phase 3 I feel a lot better. Mine is also outdoors with 100 people, but a backyard wedding so I guess I will have more leeway than a venue telling me what I must do but I still plan on adhering to the county’s policies. I’m mostly concerned with face masks and social distancing tables, but technically those aren’t even required in my county right now.

I Think You'll Be Okay, Especially Since It's Outdoors. Ours Is The Same Date But With 60 Guests In Virginia, We're Planning As Normal .

I also think we CA brides will be okay by the fall. But it also depends on your county's rules and regulations. Some are opening up sooner than others. I'm getting married in Northern CA in a rural county with few cases, so my venue is pretty positive that my wedding will be fine. Having an outdoor wedding is a huge plus. Good luck to you!!

    Where are you getting married?

We rescheduled our July 3 wedding to October 25, 2020, but now it looks like we'll probably postpone again. Our venue is in the Bay Area. The ceremony is outdoors and the reception is in an outdoor tent with some open side panels. Guest list - 150. Currently the shelter in place orders prohibit nonessential travel (even in stage 3). So technically out-of-county guest should not travel. And the state just rolled back reopening in our county and our venue and our family's counties. I'm nervous our venue will not want us to postpone again, but we have more cases of infections now than we we did when we reschedule in April, so we're planning to push back. I regret not postponing to 2021 the first time.

We were planning to get married along the central coast. Ceremony and reception scheduled for outdoors more or less. 100 on the guest list. We are pretty sure at this point that October 17th will be a NO GO. Wishing as well that we had postponed the first time to 2021. However, at this point I'm so tired of having wedding on the brain for the past year that we may go and get legally married, take the remaining wedding budget and move on with our lives. I'm a glass half full kind of person but this continues to be a bit much.

Check with your local health department for your County regulations. Santa Clara County is allowing gatherings of up to 60 starting July 13.

    Best of luck to you.
